P.I.C.K. Virtual Concert with "The American Songster" Dom Flemons

Students with Piedmont Instrument Classes for Kids and the general public were given a unique opportunity to interact, ask questions and watch Grammy winner Dom Flemons perform, during a virtual concert on Oct. 28.

Flemons is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, actor, music scholar, historian and record collector.

An expert player on the banjo, guitar, harmonica, jug, percussion, quills, fife and rhythm bones -- The American Songster covers over 100 years of early American popular music in his music repertoire.

This concert was made possible, thanks to support from the North Carolina Arts Council and Rockingham County Arts Council.

P.I.C.K. Live is joined by special guest Dom Flemons, a Grammy Award winning songwriter, mult-instrumentalist, producer, actor, music scholar, historian and record collector.

Known as "The American Songster", Flemons an expert player of the banjo, guitar, harmonica, jug, percussion, quills, fife and rhythm bones. His music repertoire covers over 100 years of early American popular music.

On today's episode we talk about the importants of musical roots, how it impacts young students and Mr. Flemon's musical accomplishments.
