Episode 3: Actions and Results- How do we control them?

16m · Not A Doormat · 23 Sep 13:49

So I know it has been three weeks.  I had a lot going on that I talk about in the podcast.  But my experiences over the last three weeks highlighted precisely what we are talking about today.  Mainly that our thoughts lead to feelings (see episode 2), and those feelings lead to action/inaction.  Our actions directly lead to our results in life.  So ultimately, if we want different results, we must change our thoughts and feelings.  I hope you enjoy this episode.  We will have some awesome interviews coming up.  Stay tuned!

Episode 2: Circumstances and Thoughts- What's the difference?

Today we are going to start looking into our own heads, and we are going to start to learn about what is within or control or out of it.  This is going to be your first introduction, with me anyway, into thought management.

The exercise talked about in the episode is the Thought Download.  Every day I want you to take a piece of paper and just start writing down every thought in your head.  Do this for at least 5 minutes.  IMPORTANT:  Do not judge!  Just take all the thoughts from your head and put it on paper.  Then just look at those thoughts and ask this question.  Does this thought serve me?

We starting at the very beginning of the most important tool you can have at hand.  Being an impartial observer of our minds!

Episode 1: Not a Doormat: What that means.

Hello everyone!  Not being a doormat means that we are no longer accepting that we are people pleasers.  And that is ok.

So here today, this is the first episode where I will be teaching you from the years of learning and development I have taken to be a recovering people pleaser.

Where does it start?  By knowing that we are people pleasers, the good and the bad.  And ultimately how sacrificing for others always comes back to us in some negative way.  And that there is a way to care for others without sacrifice, but it's not easy!  Sorry, I wish (so much!) that it was easy.  But it is something that I know, without a shadow of a doubt, you will be better for learning a different way.

So I hope that hearing this resonates with you and helps you to realize you're not alone!  Until next week when we will start to dive into tools to recover together.
