The government deployed the Comoros armed forces to the city of Mbeni in the northern region of the Islands of Ngazidja, where they have gone from house to house, persecuting citizens, young and old, the disabled, women and children. The destruction of homes and vandalisation of hospitals have occurred. Some residents have fled to other villages, and more than 150 people were taken hostage, mainly senior citizens, teachers, religious scholars, and students, with no information about their whereabouts.
