Being an Owner/Operator with Hisonni Johnson & Alberto Triana

Hisonni and Alberto operate in Las Vegas as a tag-team filmmaking duo. As Arri Alexa owner/operators, they shoot multicam coverage on each other's films to maximize efficiency with matching camera systems.

Hissoni's passion for visual storytelling started from filming unscripted movies over childhood summers. He was held to a high standard from his father, who was a master photographer.

Alberto grew up in Hawaii creating parody videos with friends and realized his passion for filmmaking early on at a young age.

Although many owner/operators justify equipment purchases from a business standpoint, Hisonni and Alberto prefer to own equipment simply to make the films they're incredibly passionate about.

The two just released the trailer for their new film, Red Hood IT, on Robot Underdog 2. The film will premiere Apil 9.

You can find Hisonni and Alberto on Instagram at @hissonij and @sabearmedia.

This episode is chock-full of deep insight on navigating the YouTube platform and how the team makes creative decisions to constantly push their channel forward.

Getting started with weddings ft. Photographer Michael Paragas

This week's guest is Michael Paragas, a Las Vegas-based photographer who is responsible for the majority of my behind-the-scenes content. Mike was thrown into the photography business with help from his mother, shooting chapel weddings in Vegas casinos. After learning from others and establishing his style, Mike has since moved away from shooting weddings and recently began working freelance, particularly in portraiture and occasional video content.

Mike is currently learning video and shoots with his A7RII rig and plans on upgrading to the FS5 in 2018. You can view his website here.

Director/Actress Savanah Joeckel reflects on the UNLV 48 Hour Film Festival

Savanah Joeckel has primarily focused on acting throughout her filmmaking career and decided to try directing during the UNLV 48 Hour Film Festival. In this contest, teams of filmmakers are assigned a genre, character, prop, and line of dialogue to include in their film which must be completed within 48 hours. Our team was assigned the slapstick comedy genre, the prop Fanta, the character Juanita the Ammunition Queen, and the line "I have leaks, doesn't everyone?"

Rather than focusing on generic slapstick conventions, Savanah insisted on building a more meaningful story to avoid becoming a skit. She recalls, "I didn't want it to feel just like a skit or a funny story wtih no substance to it."
