This episode features an interview with Ryan Rumpf, the administrator at KCPS’ International Welcome Center.  Ryan discusses the planning and programmatic decisions that went into creating the district’s newcomer center, which specializes in supporting EL students who have recently arrived in the United States.  We talk about how students at the IWC receive academic instruction and social-emotional support, the importance of having highly qualified staff, and ideas related to scheduling courses  for students with interrupted formal education (SIFE).
