Bald & Beautiful - A Conversation with Swirl

In this empowering episode Aisha is joined by Swirl who is an advocate/model; a term she coined to describe the new generation of models who use their public image to challenge stereotypes and campaign for a particular cause. As an activist based in London, Swirl raises awareness for mental health and bald women. Her lack of hair derives from trichotillomania, a body-focused repetitive behaviour (BFRB) that is only now being recognised in society. Swirl remains a person of reference for people with hair loss and challenges conventional views of female beauty.

“The Benefits of Floatation Therapy”

For some, slowing down our thoughts and being ‘present’ can be hard especially in our busy lives. As Humans have evolved we’ve become chaotic and our minds can be quite noisy and cluttered. One method is to take a ‘time-out’ of our hectic schedules by sensory deprivation in the form of an hour session in a floatation tank. Aisha’s guest in this episode is Dominic Berry from the Floatworks in Angel, who describes it as “mediation with stabilizers” as he discusses the many health benefits of this method of mindfulness and how it can improve our mental wellbeing as well as many physical symptoms.
