12m · Style Meets Sustainability · 03 Apr 12:04

Meet Shivani, a Conscious fashion designer, working her way to add value to people's wardrobes through natural dyes and eco-friendly fabrics. She is a dropout from the fashion institute. Still making her mark. Listen to our conversation to get insights on many sustainable fashion-related points.

Why fast fashion is bad for the environment and why we should say no to fast fashion are discussed today. The environment is impacted very badly by the fast fashion industry. If we don’t take action right now, fast fashion will destroy our environment.

Sustainable Fashion: When we use fabrics that are nature-friendly, and long-lasting it will be called #sustainablefashion When we use our old sarees, and garments to create a new outfit from them, that will also be called sustainable fashion. When we prefer #sustainablefashion or eco-friendly fashion, we save nature from synthetic, plastic, or harmful materials. Let us go more towards #sustainablefashion than fast fashion. Let us consume less to save the nature around us. in turn, save ourselves.

8 Sustainable Fashion & Women's Empowerment | In Conversation With Charlotte

In today's conversation meet Charlotte, Co-founder of Mewar Collective. We spoke about fast fashion, sustainable fashion, how the fabric colours affect our environment, how she is working on women's empowerment and many more. Charlotte grew up and studied in France. She is currently based in Trivandrum, South India, as part of the Kanthari program, a leadership program for social change makers. Just before the pandemic, she made a trip to India that changed a lot of perspectives for her. Thanks to it, she met a lady who inspired her to start making and creating things, without any idea how things would turn up. She has learned numerous skills that she didn't learn from office work before and accepted a lot of things about herself. Her ethical eco-friendly clothing brand Bindoo represents efforts, dreams, engagements, and teamwork. ~~~~~~~~

7 Sustainable Denim & Deep Industrial Insights | In Conversation With Radhika Machetti

Every time we buy a new  pair of jeans, it's like turning on your shower and letting the water run down the drain for 21 hours. According to United Nations, 10,000 litres of water is required to grow just the one kilo of cotton needed for the pair of jeans. In comparison, one person would take 10 years to drink 10,000 litres of water. Let's discuss how denim adds to the environmental crisis in today's conversation with Radhika Machetti.
