Today's techlondon podcast features Gareth, co-founder of Town Square, discussing our upcoming #techlondon and London Coworking Assembly workshop at UCL's Entrepreneurial and Innovation Centre.

RSVP for the event here.

The workshop is co-created with OfficeRnD - listen to the #techlondon podcast with Miro, OfficeRnD co-founder, here.

The workshop aims to help participants find opportunities, connections and directions in London's entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The Town Square startup club is an example of a support group for founders going through similar experiences.

About the Workshop

The workshop aims to democratize the entrepreneurial ecosystem by making it accessible and clear to everyone.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made people more aware of local resources and how they can contribute to the ecosystem.

The What if everyone was an entrepreneur concept is introduced, which challenges the idea that only certain people can be entrepreneurs.

The workshop aims to help people become more entrepreneurial in different walks of life and industries.

Adaptability and entrepreneurship are discussed as crucial for success in the modern economy.

Town Square offers resources for starting a responsible business, and in his newsletter, The Good Founder, Gareth covers responsible business and B Corps topics.

Danae Shell - Remote Work Discrimination and the Urgency of Employer Flexibility

In this episode we welcome back Danae Shell, Co-founder and CEO of Valla, as she talks about remote work discrimination and the importance of employer flexibility.

Danae shares an incident where a woman requested flexible working arrangements but her employer denied them, leading to her resignation. The employment tribunal found the employer engaged in indirect sex discrimination, resulting in discrimination and unlawful consequences.

Compensation for past and future losses and injury to feelings may be awarded. The consequences of discrimination can include compensation for past and future losses and an award for injury to feelings.

Danae also touches on the ongoing debate regarding remote work and the push to return to the office. Employers must understand employment law and seek external advice when addressing requests for flexible working or reasonable adjustments, particularly for disabled individuals.

The platform "Valla" helps individuals document workplace issues and guide them through the process of taking action, including raising grievances or going to a tribunal.

They stress the need to educate the industry and the public, promote goods and services that have been proven to work and build a community of support for people with mental health problems.

Stewart talks about how the cause is important to him because he has lost 11 founder friends to suicide and has struggled with his own mental health. He says that mental health needs to be a top priority in the business world and that the way people talk about getting help needs to change.

Lujza talks about how the mental health community is based on sensitivity and how app developers for mental health need to work together. They want people and groups to join the Digital Mental Health Alliance and help them improve access to safe and effective digital solutions for mental health.

New Meta Gaming Arena - Better Together

In this episode we have Eduard Kim from New Meta Gaming Arena from Islington Square with Adrian De Leon.

New Meta Gaming Arena is a community for gamers and people who loves gaming. Where you can play together, learn together, and achieve together.

The business model is based on frequency and loyalty, rather than extortionate prices, and is aimed at providing customers with a high-powered gaming laptop and a socialising event. The long-term goal is to add things such as a coworking space for gaming professionals, and Space for just playing.

New Meta aims to develop their brand as an online brand, similar to how sports teams build a brand. Ed discusses the potential for Esports to be included in the Olympics, but the fundamental problem is that there are too many different types of online games to choose from.
