*Hormonal Imbalance in Males* Does hormonal imbalance affect males Yes, hormonal imbalances can affect males. While hormonal imbalances are often associated with females due to conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or menopause, males can also experience imbalances in their hormone levels. The primary hormones in males are testosterone and estrogen. Testosterone is responsible for various male characteristics such as muscle development, facial hair growth, and a deep voice. Estrogen, although present in smaller amounts in males, also plays a role in regulating certain bodily functions. When hormonal imbalances occur in males, it can lead to various symptoms and health issues. For example, low testosterone levels, known as hypogonadism, can result in decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, fatigue, mood changes, and decreased muscle mass. High levels of estrogen or imbalances between testosterone and estrogen can also cause similar symptoms. There are various causes of hormonal imbalances in males, including aging, certain medical conditions, medications, stress, obesity, and lifestyle factors. It's essential for males experiencing symptoms of hormonal imbalance to consult with a healthcare professional who can evaluate their hormone levels through blood tests and provide appropriate treatment options. Treatment for hormonal imbalances in males may involve lifestyle changes, hormone replacement therapy, medications, or addressing the underlying cause of the imbalance. It's important to note that only a healthcare professional can diagnose and recommend the most suitable treatment for an individual's specific hormonal imbalance.

CANCERS...Creating Awareness, Aiming at Closing The Gap

CANCER is a group of disease, that occurs when abnormal cells grow uncontrollable or spread to other parts of the body. It can affect all ages, sex, ethnicity, nationality and social group this means anybody can be afflicted with cancer, the good or bad, the beautiful and not so pretty. Early detection is the key, hence the need to encourage annual medical checks and teach people healthy lifestyles that can help combat the disease. World cancer day(4th February) is an international day used to create awareness of about cancer and encourage it's prevention, detection and treatment. This helps us to be more proactive in reducing the number of deaths caused by cancer. Theme of this year was "Close The Gap" This we can do by being more empathic for those diagnosed already, reaching out to organisations that work with cancer patients to know how we can assist them, pay for an indigent patients therapy and also by practicing cancer preventive measures like vaccination, screening and lifestyle modification, and teach others to do so.Thanks for listening to Dr Besa Speaks today, where I talk about HEALTH, FAITH AND LIFESTYLE.
