Katie Pagnotta, author of the book Empowered by the Human Design: Utilizing the BBARS of Excellence Framework to Foster Student and Educator Success, believes that it is within our grasp to find joy in teaching, even in an era of high anxiety and mental illness with our students. She developed the BBARS (Brain and Body Aligned Responsive Systems of Excellence) by integrating the evidence-based approach of 18 professionals from various fields. In this podcast, we learn more about the hope inherent in this process.
ABOUT
Katie is a Saint Anselm College graduate and holds a Masters degree from UNH. She has been a child and family therapist, a long-time K-12 school counselor, and now serves as a consultant, coach, and mental health counselor at Resilient Roots. Katie has a passion for helping her clients and families deal with stress, anxiety, ASD, and ADHD. With the release of Empowered by the Human Design, the world is just beginning to know Katie’s expertise.

He is also the recipient of the 2024 NHASCD Educational Leadership Award as part of the NH Excellence in Education Awards…the EDies.
ABOUT
Dr. Irv Richardson is likely best known as the Coordinator for Public Education and School Support for NEA-NH. He is also on the doctoral program faculty at Southern NH University and helped grow Staff Development for Educators (SDE) with the late Jim Grant. Irv was Maine’s teacher of the year in 1988 and on the team that wrote the National INTASC teaching standards. He will receive his Eddy on June 8 from NHASCD at the Doubletree in Manchester, NH.

Exploring Messy Leadership with Alyssa Gallagher
Alyssa Gallagher, author of the just-released book Messy Leadership, shares her insights on embracing complexity and uncertainty in educational leadership, a topic she has explored through the experiences of 20,000 school leaders.
ABOUT
Alyssa Gallagher co-leads BTS Spark in North America, helping school leaders access leadership coaching and professional development. She has 20 years in K-12 public education as a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent. One of Alyssa’s great successes was the transformation of the Los Altos, CA school district which became a leader in educational innovation and was featured on national media, including CNN and 60 Minutes. Alyssa also worked with Sal Kahn to pilot Khan Academy through that district. She has coauthored books on design thinking, and her latest ASCD book Messy Leadership, was co-authored with Rosie Connor.

TIGER: NH’s Legendary School Assembly
Since 2002, TIGER (Theater Integrating Guidance Education and Responsibility) has produced 2,500 shows, hosted 3,000 student workshops, and visited over 500 schools throughout New England with many different casts. For scores of NH schools, TIGER has been a lynchpin of social-emotional learning for elementary and secondary students. In this podcast, we chat with Dr. Trish Lindberg and Pam Irish, the two most responsible for this strongly successful program.

Dr. Trish Lindberg is a Professor in the Education Leadership, Learning, and Curriculum Graduate Department at Plymouth State University (PSU). She coordinates the Master of Education in the Integrated Arts Program at PSU. Trish is also co-founder of the Educational Theatre Collaborative, founder of the Kearsarge Arts Theatre program, and artistic director of TIGER.
Pam Irish is TIGER’s tour manager. She’s a native of Rhode Island, studied at Johnson and Wales University, and is the machine that keeps TIGER rolling year after year, now in its 21st season.

ABOUT
Christina is the Director of EdTech Learning and Growth, and Kirsten Soroko, is the Director of Personalized Learning and Growth, both at Pinkerton Academy.
Christina has more than 15 years of experience in education. She serves on the NHSTE (NH Society for Technology in Education) board as the Professional Learning Chair, and is a Google Certified Trainer, Google Innovator, and ISTE Certified Educator / Community Leader. Christina has many years of working in the IT private sector. She has also been a previous guest on this podcast, speaking on AI.
Kirsten supports the development and facilitation of Pinkerton professional learning and growth of all educational personnel. She has become a leader for professional learning in many state venues including CTE career and Technical educators. Kirsten is an East Kingston school board member and an award-winning, four-year standout tennis player for Colby-Sawyer College.
