Charlie Roberts, a pharmacy student and our student ambassador, recently co-hosted With Trustee Robin Lansman, a lively webinar organised jointly with IHPE and the University of Nottingham (UoN). The event aimed to increase recognition of the Determinants of Health.
What do we mean by ‘Determinants of health’? And does it matter?Charlie started the webinar with a clear explanation of the ‘rainbow’ model of health determinants, outlining the many influences on health from our home, school, work and the wider environment.
IHPE provided a discussion panel with diverse interests and experience:
- Karen Neil, pharmacology, public health and mental health;
- Katherine Whittingham, BSc Health Promotion course lead at UoN;
- Robin Lansman, osteopathy and health promotion;
- Sylvia Cheater, dental public health, nutrition and settings based approaches.

Maximising the potential of the AHP workforce – a conversation with the BSW AHP Faculty
Summary/description: In this podcast BSW AHP Faculty members share what they have been working and explain from their lived experience the value of working together across the system, paving the way for the wider health and social care workforce to deliver the highest quality of care to our population through maximising the potential of the AHP workforce. They reflect on the value of working together as a team, their learning on health and social care integration and how their experiences of working in the AHP faculty has supported leadership development and changed their perspectives.
