The Conversations Movement - episode 207

39m · Unabashed You · 26 Mar 15:55

Conversations.  Are they a lost art?  In this Information Age of texting, emailing, and social media we may be losing authentic connection.  This week’s guest Chris Burnett wants to change that.  It started with 50 recorded conversations in one week with family and friends and its turned into a conversations movement.  He was amazed by what he discovered and the richness that followed.  Chris is finding all kinds of different ways to encourage us to experience the same benefits.  Taking the time to ask questions, to learn, and to truly connect, is where the sweet spot of coming together is.  Let’s not lose that.

You can find Chris on Instagram at Conversations Movement.

An Encouraging Trio of Questions & Quotes - episode 217

We all have gifts we have been given that help define who we are.  There are things that light us up and bring us joy.  Often we let fear get in the way of exploring them or bringing them to fruition. May these questions and quotes inspire you to work past the fear and get to your passion so you can make it your purpose.

*What are you waiting for?

*Who would you be if you weren’t afraid?

*What’s the worst thing that could happen?

Listen as I share some thoughts around these questions and pair them with powerful quotes that have made a profound difference in my life.  May they begin to do the same for you.

Why ARE you here? Passion & Purpose - episode 216

There are reasons we are living this life.  In addition to the people we love, and the people who love us, we are meant to express ourselves through the passion we have, and then to find a purpose, a way to share it.  When you were a kid, what brought you joy?  Does it still?

I think of my brother who as a young boy liked to dress up in military uniforms and carry toy weapons.  He grew up to be a firefighter and has become an expert in using firearms responsibly.  I think it’s telling.  As a young girl I was drawn to performances, like getting goosebumps every year when Leslie Ann Warren starred in the movie Cinderella.  (That was back when you had to wait a year to see something you really enjoyed.)  It is still true today.  When I am moved I get goosebumps, sometimes cry and occasionally weep.

I love the power in performance arts and the joy found in storytelling.  We can learn and be inspired by each other.  This episode explores passion and purpose: how you might begin to rekindle yours or discover a new one.  I’ll be asking four questions for you to ponder.  I’ve asked them of myself and insisted I follow through with what I found.  May you be encouraged to do the same.

Be Willing to be Uncomfortable - episode 215

It started with her own need to lose those last 12 pounds after having twins.  Courtney Gray used that desire along with motivational tips she’d picked up along the way to change her mindset.  And it worked.  You start with being radically honest with yourself.  From there you learn how to deal with limiting beliefs, how to handle urges, along with other strategies you’ll need to be successful.  You’ll likely be uncomfortable but you can do hard things.  Courtney will teach, encourage and more.  She’s found a passion and turned it into purpose creating ways to help women be more of who they want to be.

You can find Courtney on Instagram at Modern Life, Modern Body.

A Bite-Sized Truth - episode 214

She is currently living in a place called Where America’s Day Begins.  The US territory of Guam is where Annie Weber is and where she felt called to share the purpose born from her passion.  It’s helping people understand the Bible, so she wrote a book and formatted it in a way to make different passages easier to understand.  It’s called Astounding Truths of the Bible.  Annie takes a verse, explains the context, and helps you turn it into a prayer.   All of this done in a relatable way as she weaves humor and personal stories into the mix.  I just ordered mine and am looking forward to diving in.

You can find Annie on Instagram at Astounding Truths.

My Sister’s Sister - episode 213

Yes, she is my sister’s sister.   How does that work?   Well, my sister and I share a father but not a mother.  Her mother went on to have two more kids with a different man and that’s how she is my sister’s sister.  Not related by blood, recently introduced, I’ve come to appreciate all that Amy Schadt is doing to help women transition into feeling fully empowered.  She calls it Radical Embodiment.  She’s been through it herself and now wants other women to reach their full potential.  Amy walks us through a four-step process to get there.  Why would you settle for less than all you can be when you can dream of being more?

You can find Amy at Amy Schadt.
