Peace Purpose and Happiness with Maya Manseau

57m · Life Passion and Business · 17 Apr 22:23

Our conversation is a healing journey about finding peace, purpose and happiness. It is a story of family values and grief, an example of a life of change and progression. Maya Manseau grew up watching courtroom dramas and wanted to become a lawyer. Looking for the right college degree for the legal profession, a family friend advised her to get a technical degree. She became an associate in electrical engineering in the 1980s when not many women were taking those classes. She learned a lot about how to stand her ground and tell rude jokes with the boys. By the time she left college, her legal career was forgotten. Going into the world, her career path followed the growth of the computer industry.

Changing Values

Many years later, she was travelling the US with a successful sales career when circumstances pushed her to reevaluate her life. She needed more time for her family. Two close family members were struggling with health issues, and her teenage daughter was growing up fast, and she was missing the journey. The time was right to make a move. She started a wedding photography business, and it flew. It did well, and her daughters joined her in the business. Together, they had nine wonderful years creatively recording the magical wedding days of couples across the US. But in 2013, it all changed; Lindsey, her oldest daughter, developed leukaemia and died within the year, and so began the third and current iteration of Maya Manseau’s life. Since her daughter’s passing, she has written two books “Living Intentionally After Loss: Passion and Purpose and Navigating the Small Business Path.

Peace Purpose and Happiness

Her daughter Lindsey was instrumental in Maya’s new career, which they created together in the last few months of her life. Our conversation is about that journey and what she discovered on the way. Since then, it has become a mission to help others who are grieving some loss, to help them find themselves again, speak their truth, and turn their loss into something meaningful.

Graham Brown : Creating Your Story

This show was last released in March 2022. At the time, it was called 3 Plane Tickets and No Plans. Listening to it again, it is very much about building a life out of the narrative that we want to live. The point is to remember that we will create that narrative consciously or unconsciously, which is why it is so important to become the driver and not the passenger. If you want help with that check out the link here Back to Graham and those plane tickets. Some of us dream about dropping everything and taking off, but what happens when you do, and more to the point, what makes an entrepreneur with a growing business cash it all in, get on a plane with his family and become a nomad? Our show is about the call to adventure. Sometimes it takes a wake-up call to see life for what it is, “fragile”. We assume it will continue forever, and the story will play out well. In reality, we cannot make those assumptions; all we can do is live our best life by taking control of the story.

Graham Brown was a star in the telecoms industry and a leader in data research and trends. But his father's death made him ask the important questions and give it all up for three plane tickets and no plans. As you will hear, life in paradise is not all Instagram moments.

Graham is a gentle soul that has learnt much on his travels, above all, it was the importance of finding your story. Today Graham has produced over 1500 podcasts, written 4 books, speaks live on podcasts and helps major brands define and tell their story. Let's join the conversation with Graham Brown.

The Red Mist of Anger

In this eye-opening episode, Paul Harvey, a reputable midlife coach, delves into the intricacies of managing and expressing anger. Opening a candid dialogue, he explores the reasons we experience anger and how it can potentially shape our perspectives and actions in life.

Harvey elucidates the societal and cultural factors that could influence how we perceive or suppress anger. He brings to light the damaging impact of pent-up anger and the importance of dealing with frustration early on, before it escalates to a full-scale rage, adding a unique insight to the discussion from personal development work experiences.

He emphasizes the need for safe outlets to vent anger and cautions against prolonging the resolution of contentious issues, as this might eventually lead to explosive outcomes. Harvey provides practical tips and suggestions, urging listeners to resort to safe physical expressions or therapeutic assistance when needed.

Furthermore, Harvey underlines how young children can be ideal models in handling anger due to their honest and immediate expression of emotions. He ends the episode with inspiring examples of individuals who harnessed their anger to champion monumental societal changes. This refreshing episode encourages healthy communication, promotes self-exploration and attests to the transformative power inherent in appropriately harnessed anger.

Jeff Hardy : To Care for Peace

Our guest on the show was 19 when he enlisted in the US Coast Guard reserve as a hospital corpsman trainee. He was sent to Government Island in San Francisco Bay to help and care for the troops returning from Vietnam and the Mekon Delta. It was a life-changing event for this young man. He discovered how caring and peace are fundamentally connected. It set a career in the caring profession, not as a nurse or doctor but as a planner. He went on to become a planning and design consultant. He facilitated innovative management operations and new facility development for more than 120 hospitals all over the USA. His skill set was in demand outside the US, and he and his wife travelled the world advising hospitals and care facilities. His work was about creating environments for optimal patient and staff care.

. Over his 40-year career, he has set up facilities all over the world, working in Vietnam, Nigeria, Kenya, and many others. He was particularly proud of his work in Myanmar, where they created a system to serve remote communities.

Jeff is now retired from the business he created and spends time writing and speaking on podcast stages. He believed that humanity needs a second evolution that leads to deep peace, which can only be found through caring. We cover my usual question, but our conversation concerns the human bond of caring and community. It was about how society must learn from the past and stop repeating our history.

Jeff encapsulated his thoughts on caring and peace in his first book. To care for peace - a global mandate to secure the second human evolution in perpetuity—THE PROCESS IS THE SOLUTION, In his opinion, it is a process. Check out the book on amazon and the website at www.CareforPeace.org

Jonathon Nazario and his Book Society

A flashback to January 2021 with Jonathan Nazario: I was looking for a show to reshare with you today, and I wondered what happened to Jonathan, given we are three years on. At the time of recording, Jonathon was 17. The book is still available on Amazon, but his social chnnels look dormant. I have reached out, and I will see what transpires. If you are interested in Focus coaching the link is here, and at the bottom.

______________________________________________________ This podcast brings a different perspective to my usual conversations because, unlike most of my guests, Jonathon Nazario is just 17 years old, which, from my (57-year-old) perspective, is the very beginning of life’s experiences.

His book is called Society, The World In Which We Live and is a self-help philosophical mix that is his take on the world, highlighting human behaviour, education, and the business world.

When this young author approached me through one of the podcast matching sites. I have to admit, my old cynic reared its head and said

“What can a 17-year-old possibly know about Life, Passion and Business?”

Intrigued to know more, I followed through with an introductory chat that turned into a refreshing conversation and an invitation to come on the podcast.

In this programme, we discuss his personal view of success, contribution, and the meaning of life. Jonathon has big plans for the future and a vision that includes exceeding his personal expectations.

Despite being an old cynic, it is refreshing to hear the perspective of one so young. With his positive mindset, Jonathon will likely fulfil his vision, and I hope I have the opportunity to catch up with him again in 10 years to see how things are going.

If you want to catch up with Jonathon Nazario, you can find his book on Amazon.com. Given that we are three years old, the social links seem to be dormant.
