Epistle of 1 Thessalonians 4:18-5:3 - The Day of the LORD - Prog 21
The coming of the Lord is a truth that
is currently of intense interest
among Christians. Here on the Unchanging
Word Bible study, Dr. John G. Mitchell
gives us truth found in 1 Thessalonians
4:13 through chapter 5:5.
In this study, Dr. Mitchell brings out
the unique distinction designated by the
the Scripture's use of the words, "In
Christ" and how it is used in the Bible.
These are the words the Apostle Paul uses
in 1Thess. chapter 4 verse 16 concerning
those who had died.>
The Apostle Paul writes two lines
of truth in this passage. One line has to
do with the coming of the Lord Jesus for His
own, the church. The other has to do with
the day of the LORD when Christ returns to
the earth with His own to set up His kingdom.
In this lesson Dr. Mitchell encourages our
hearts with the truth of God's Unchanging
Word concerning the day of the LORD as it
relates to the believers in the risen Son
of God, Jesus. For God has not destined us
for wrath but for salvation through our Lord
Jesus Christ who died for us.

The Unchanging Word broadcast continues our study in the book of 1st Thessalonians. We are in chapter 4 verses 13 thru 18. In this section of scripture the Apostle Paul addresses the need for these Thessalonians to not grieve as do unbelievers who have no hope for those who have died. So, Paul gives them the divine revelation that the Lord Jesus gave him concerning the rapture.
This Biblical revelation gives the believer a divine comfort, a certain hope, a blessed assurance. It is good to have a solid hope and and a current comfort concerning our loved ones who know the Lord but have died. And, we too have this assurance, we who know the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Do you have this confidence and assurance and hope for yourself? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you too will be saved! Here is Dr. Mitchell, 1Thess. 4:13.

Our study in 1st Thessalonians chapter 4 continues with verse 13.
Welcome to the Unchanging Word Bible study. Our study now brings us to the Divine revelation from the LORD to the apostle Paul. This revelation is couched in the personal need of hope about certain ones among the Thessalonian believers. This need, to which Paul responds, has to do with the question, "What will become of those who have died and been buried before the Lord has returned"? What is their hope? Paul writes to them concerning this mystery revealed to him by the Lord Himself. This revelation is written in verses 13-18. But today, Dr. Mitchell will give us a brief overview of the distinctions between the Lord's coming for His own, the Church, and the Lord's coming to redeem Israel as a nation during the great tribulation and end the rule of the nations. Then the Lord Jesus will establish His Kingdom on earth in Jerusalem. Here is Dr. Mitchell, 1 Thessalonians 4:13.

Welcome to the Unchanging Word Bible study as our study continues in 1st Thessalonians, chapter 4 beginning at verse 9. As we said before, the Apostle Paul is giving certain exhortations on the expected Christian lifestyle. In this next section, verses 9 - 12, Paul turns our attention to 3 topics. First, love, secondly, quietness and lastly to working to support one's self. Dr. Mitchell also gives us exhortations on how we are to walk with respect to one another, toward other Christians and toward those who are outside the sphere of a personal relationship with Christ. So, let's ask ourselves, How is our walk? What kind of lifestyle do I maintain to the glory of God? How am I loving other Christian believers? Let's turn in our Bibles to 1st Thessalonians chapter 4, verses 9 - 12 with our teacher, Dr. Mitchell.

The Unchanging Word continues into chapter 4 of 1st Thessalonians beginning at verse 1. We will be looking at the first 8 verses.
The Apostle Paul now begins some various exhortations, admonitions, and instructions in practical christian living, and Christian lifestyle and how to walk in holiness and be pleasing to God. In these first 8 verses, he reiterates a command he had given to these Thessalonians concerning practical sanctification.
Dr. Mitchell communicates to us the need for the Christian's sanctification unto God through Jesus Christ.
The Lord does this by means of His Word of truth. Just as Jesus intercedes with His Father in John 17,
"I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth."
John 17 verses 15-18
