Christmas Special w/ Kevin Toms (1982 Football Manager Developer) - Podcast #28

A special date requires a special podcast episode with a very special guest - so we got you the creator of the original "Football Manager" series and pioneer of sports simulation games, Kevin Toms!

Get to know one of the most iconic British game developers of all-time in this interview - how he came up with the first Football Manager game, his meteoric success and how he is still making new games 40 years later!

-||-

Kevin Toms is a software architect and video game developer from the UK. His first game, Football Manager, was released in 1982, achieving unparalleled success in a time where home computers were still a rarity in most European and British homes.

The game effectively created the football management genre and paved the way for other popular franchises such as Championship Manager (now called "Football Manager"), Premier Manager and Total Club Manager / FIFA Manager.

Toms continued to develop games throughout the 80's under his label Addictive Games. Most recently, he has released an adaptation of his first game called "Kevin Toms' Football Star Manager", available on iOS, Android, Windows 10, MacOS and Kindle Fire.

40 years after the release of the first Football Manager, Toms is now releasing a new installment in the series, "Football New Manager", which is planned to come out in 2022.

As for our boy Dani, he's a content marketing freelancer based in Portugal. He came to know Kevin Toms in 2020 through a marketing apprenticeship on Acadium and is currently working with him on designing graphics and promotional content for the Football Manager series' 40-year anniversary.
