As society emerges from ongoing challenges and economic uncertainty, GiveBradford are calling on businesses and individuals who want to experience real social change and help Community Organisations in a new way, by empowering them to build a sustainable future.
In this episode, we'll be talking about a new fund recently launched by GiveBradford focusing on supporting the resilience of community organisations across our District.
Most of the groups that we fund don't have the infrastructure or capacity to raise funds directly from companies, individuals, and national foundations. We play a vital role in connecting people who want to give with groups who can utilise this money to create real social change in the place they love.
That lack of capacity is exactly why we are focusing The Bradford Fund on resilience. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Community Organisations were already in demonstrable need of flexible, multi-year funding, the impact of the pandemic on both their finances and their delivery has made that need all the greater and we think it's our responsibility as a Community Foundation to broker in funds that meet that need.
We're joined by Craig Burton, Chair of GiveBradford, Kim Shutler, Chief Executive of The Cellar Trust and Haqueq Siddique from West Bowling Youth Initiative, a Community Organisation supported through The Bradford Fund.

In light of the current economic crisis, charities face greater pressure as they strive to deliver essential services and meet growing demand for the communities they serve. GiveBradford distributes vital grants and gives trusted advice to Community Organisations across the District to influence positive change. Driven by creating meaningful social impact for hundreds of local people every year.
GiveBradford generates philanthropic giving and leverages statutory funding to deliver grants that address specific challenges. This opens up vulnerable and often marginalised communities to a wealth of opportunities including skills, health, education, culture and employment.
Our work goes beyond funding alone as it also provides resources that Community Organisations would otherwise struggle to access. As an organisation focused on creating a fair and inclusive society, GiveBradford works alongside each group to address inequalities and create opportunities.

Pride in Bradford
In this episode we’ll be shining a spotlight on Pride Month and discussing the important work delivered by Community Organisations in supporting LGBTQ+ communities across the Bradford District.
We're joined by Cllr Richard Dunbar, Bradford Council’s LGBTQ+ Champion and two local Community Organisations we’ve had the privilege of supporting, School of Rock and Media (SORM) and Bradford Equity Partnership.

The Manjit Wolstenholme Fund
Welcome to our second episode of our ‘GiveLoveBradford’ podcast. In this episode we’ll be joined by Luke Wolstenholme, son of Manjit Wolstenholme. Manjit Wolstenholme was born in India and went to school in Wolverhampton. Her life story was one of building the skills and perseverance to break down barriers to succeed in business. Manjit became the youngest woman to head an investment bank in London and went on to become the first woman from an ethnic minority background to chair and lead a FTSE 100 company – Provident Financial based in Bradford.
With support from Provident Financial Group, Manjit’s family established the Manjit Wolstenholme Fund which has distributed £79,634 to 9 groups. The fund was launched to honour Manjit with the aim of supporting children and young people in disadvantaged areas of Bradford to achieve their potential by providing educational and aspirational opportunities. Manjit’s own experiences meant she believed passionately that no-one should be denied the chance to achieve their true potential as a result of their background or where they live.
We were also joined Bradford Community Broadcasting and Keighley Association for Women's and Children's Centre, two organisations supported through the Fund who share the impact of the fund on the young people they support.

Community Resilience
In this episode we discuss how local communities have been affected by the pandemic, our response through our Resilience Fund and the impact that has had on the grassroots communities we work alongside.
We're joined by Sharat Hussain of Mary Magdalene CIC and Cathy Henwood of Wellsprings Together, two Community Organisations who share their experiences since the start of their pandemic and how they have adapted to continue to support their communities.
Mary Magdelene CIC support community groups and individuals from all over Bradford and for learning, networking, volunteering and bringing people together to transform neighbourhoods and businesses.
Wellsprings Together aim to encourage and support churches, community groups and other faith groups working together to enable flourishing neighbourhoods.
