Internet Marketing: Using People's Habits To Get Yourself More Sales

We're creatures of habit. Otherwise we'd be disorganised and get even less done. Tapping into people's habits can be an easy way to make more sales. Stores do this all the time: they know we give more gifts at Christmas, that kind of thing. Take a moment to think about how you can tap into the habits of your audience so that they just tick a box in their mind and buy more things from you!

Using The Wisdom Of Crowds With Your Internet Marketing

The wisdom of crowds is familiar if you've ever seen someone ask the audience on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. At the lower question levels, most of the audience almost always gets the answer correct. The same goes for your internet marketing. Go with the crowds - don't try to be a loner on a site that you like but no-one else uses. Sure, you could be a big fish in a small pond but if there's no-one else there, it's pointless. And with your website, do the same. Don't try to make a new interface just because you or your designer think it's cool. If it's not what people are expecting, chances are they won't hang around long enough to explore your site. It sounds boring but it's actually common sense and will help you and save you a lot of wasted effort.

Ready, Fire, Aim With Your Internet Marketing

Ready, fire, aim is a phrase I first came across in about 1996 and it probably wasn't original at that stage. It applies to lots of things in life and especially to your internet marketing. You can't be a perfectionist - because nothing is ever perfect and if you take the perfectionist approach, you'll never make anything live on the web. Instead, take a "good enough is good enough" approach (that's the get ready part), then put it up on your website or wherever (fire), then tweak it based on results (aim). Simple? Yes. Effective? Yes. This works. It's how some of the biggest companies in the world work - think Microsoft, who've been improving Windows since 1985 and still haven't got it totally right but have made a decent amount of cash in the process. Give the ready, fire, aim approach a trial in your internet marketing or almost any other area of your life!
