Is it possible to be an ethical influencer? Feat. Leah Musch - The Unmaterial Girl

41m · Producing with Purpose · 16 Oct 19:00

On this episode I speak with Leah Musch, AKA - The Unmaterial Girl.

Starting her entrepreneurial journey at a young age, Leah had opened, run and sold her own store in her early 20's before developing her profile as an influencer, based on themes of slow fashion and conscious consumerism.

We speak about her journey into this lifestyle and also the key question, is it possible to be an ethical influencer?

When partnering with brands to promote sales in return for payment or product, how does this balance with the messaging that encourages people to buy less and buy better, and can this be done without feeling hypocritical?

Leah goes into depth about her thoughts on this, and how she works to incorporate a system of transparency that helps her make sense of this ongoing conundrum.

E38: Purpose driven design - Feat. Tom Shaw of Eva.

In this episode of Producing with Purpose I speak to Tom Shaw, the head of design at Eva.

As as big fan of Tom's work at both Eva, and his previous role at Jardan, it was a pleasure to hear how Tom considers the lifecycle and environmental impact of his design choices, all whilst making beautiful and functional furniture.

A real masterclass in what it means to design with integrity, this episode is a real gem for anyone who has an interest in hearing how design and purpose can intersect beautifully.

E37: Cutting through in a sea of green. Feat. Nick Hunter of Paper Moose

Today on Producing with Purpose, we have the first guest episode of the year: I’ll be chatting with Nick Hunter, CEO and co-founder of the creative agency Paper Moose!. Paper Moose is an extremely purposeful company that puts a lot of parameters and thought into who they work with and what kind of work they do, so it was fantastic to talk to Nick and get some of his valuable insights when it comes to brand messaging and how to cut through as more and more companies use their sustainability as a selling point.

The importance of narrative. Feat. Andy Fallshaw - Bellroy

On this episode of Producing with Purpose, I speak with Andy Fallshaw, co-founder of the Australian carry brand, Bellroy.

Andy is a dad, a designer, an engineer, an entrepreneur, a surfer and just a great person to have a conversation with about founding and running a business with purpose.

Andy gives some fantastic insight into the importance of having a strong narrative, not just around your company and values, but around the product itself, which has been reinforced from the start with Andy taking a role in founding the Carryology blog. This has served as a core part of the 'carry community' and demonstrates the importance of being an authority in your field.

Micro Episode 10: The true value of authenticity

As online trends progress, we hear the term 'authenticity' mentioned more than ever. But what does it mean to be truly authentic?

Sometimes, we can get caught up in trying to make things look so professional, so well executed, that they can seem insincere. And even worse, if we try to make the artificial look authentic, it can very quickly damage a reputation.

So whilst this subject was fresh in my mind, and I had the pleasure of sharing an 'authentic' moment recording this podcast from London in my Mum's dining room, I felt it was a great opportunity to talk about an element of personal brand which, if done right, can be the difference between cutting through the noise, or being left behind.

Surviving the early years, Feat. Niko Vatheuer - Embassy of Bricks & Logs

On this episode of Producing with Purpose, I'm joined by Niko Vatheuer – founder of Embassy of Bricks and Logs, a seven-year-old ethical and sustainable clothing brand.

Niko has been in the fashion industry for close to 30 years and talks about the journey of creating multiple fashion brands and from repeating the process, the knowledge he has gained about surviving the first years of business.
