Preparing Your Creative Business for Time Off

22m · The Joy of Content · 22 Jun 07:01

Whether it's planned or not planned, at some point you will need to take a break from your business. Hopefully it's a planned break, like an awesome, well deserved vacation. But sometimes it may be an emergency situation. Like when moving into a new home and the move takes twice as long as originally planned and you can't find your laptop charger because it's in one of 100s of boxes that you failed to label properly. (Or maybe that's just me?) Anyway, on this episode of The Joy of Content, I'm going to give you some tips for how to prepare for time off from your creative business. It's always better to be prepared, and implementing this suggestions will make that break much less stressful!

Key Topics:

  • Why having a website or blog is a necessity for your business.
  • Easy ways to repurpose content.
  • The benefit to collecting "B Roll" videos.
  • How Canva can help you create content quickly.

Using Your Platform for Good

We all have influence and we can all be a catalyst for change. That's the central idea being discussed in this episode of The Joy of Content. My guest, Caitlin McHugh Stamos is an actress, model, mom, and podcast host who uses her platforms and influence to bring awareness to social causes important to her. On each episode of her podcast, How Can I Help?, Caitlin shares a different cause or organization that is making a difference in the world, and encourages her audience to get involved as well. During our interview, we discuss how anyone with a platform - whether we perceive it as large or small - *does* have influence and can be an inspiration for social change.

Key Topics:

  • How you can help others, even with a "small" platform.
  • Ways to make a difference, besides donating money.
  • How to get over the uncomfortableness of calling your representatives.
  • Why volunteering is so important.
  • What to do if you get negative or mean comments on your posts.
