RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE – FIGHT FOR AMAZONIA

1h 2m · Neonyt – Podcast for Fashion, Sustainability & Innovation · 30 Apr 06:36

Last year there were terrible forest fires, this year illegal logging continues on a large scale. What can we do to protect Amazonia - the lungs of our planet? This January at Neonyt, we discussed how enterprises can create a positive impact through alliances and partnerships: support people and protect nature!  Participants in the panel discussion were  Tristan A. Foerster from Climate Partner, Oskar Metsavaht from Osklen, Eliane Fernandes Ferreira, Universität Hamburg,  François Morrilion from Veja and Thomas Krämer, Forestgum.

Moderated by Geraldine de Bastion.

The discussion was recorded at Neonyt in January 2020.

Darling Denim? How we can make dirty denim sustainable again

The environmental balance of our favourite piece of clothing, our jeans, is enormous: water-intensive cotton production, the use of toxic chemicals, sandblasting or bleaching  - these are just some of the keywords when it comes to denim production. How can we turn dirty denim back to an everybody's darling again? This is what our Neonyt #Prepeek Panel discussion "Reinventing Denim" by ISKO with Kim Gerlach, Rosey Cortazzi & Sam Trotman (ISKO) and blogger and fashion designer Lina Mayorga (@fashionfabnews) was all about in January.

SHARING ECONOMY

What does "sharing economy" exactly mean? It can mean a lot, from rental to repair services, from circular processes to non-linear solutions. But what are the potentials and how is the customer’s reception? Three different guests talked to Jana Kern & Alex Vogt (Kern) at the Fashionsustain conference about the business cases behind the different models of their companies: Sara Eriksson gave us an insight into the rental service by H&M Group, Sandya Lang introduced the repair/reuse service by Nudie Jeans, and Patrick Duffy explained how a clothes swap concept was developed by Global Fashion Exchange.

HOW TO SUCCEED AS AN INDEPENDENT FASHION BRAND?

"Live your concept, focus on your core values, look for solutions," says Ashley Marc Hovelle (Often). He is one of the fashion designers supported by the German Sustain Concept. The German scholarship programme by Fashion Council Germany is dedicated to supporting young fashion brands in the field of sustainable design. At the fashionsustain conference in January, Ashley spoke with Björn Kubeja (Working Title), who is also supported by FCG, and Marte Hentschel (sqetch) about how to successfully build and internationalize a business model.

Nachhaltige Mode: Eco Pioniere vs. Eco Capsules
