WIBU: Black Voices Matter

14m · G00n Pod · 24 Aug 19:00

I suppose this is the first installation of Why Is B Upset (WIBU). The rant that floated into my mind relates to Black Lives Matter. In a general sense, the steam, hype, trend of BLM has fizzled down a bit. It is still very active, and even if it wasn't, that does not mean we should stop our growth, nor should we slow our pursuit of justice. Stay mindful of the small habits and behaviors that you make adjustments to in your day to day life. Unlearn a common generalization, saying, assumption, stereotype. Learn the history, background, and hidden realities that SHOULD be more known. Listen to Black voices and help them be heard.

In relation to this, make sure you realize the overlap and connection BLM has with other issues. People of color are more impacted by climate change and pollution. Racism has no place in the LGBTQ+ community. Misconceptions and biases impact the quality of health care people of color receive. Generalizations and stereotypes impact school environments, if and when accessible.

End of the Year, Goblin, Wholesome Time

Ayo, it's B. You know, I don't think setting up deadlines and posting schedules works for me. Oh well. In this one I share my experience with Goblin (Guardian: The Lonely and the Great God) as my first Kdrama, and it leads to my favorite aspects of other shows I like. The themes tie in a message for the end of 2020. Got a little more into it than I intended, but hopefully stayed out of the ranty side and in the realm of wholesome :)

If you have any ideas, requests, suggestions, or just want to talk it up, please feel free to shoot over messages and suggestions through the Insta (@g00npod). I believe in you and your abilities to persist through the challenges from 2020 and embrace what 2021 has to offer.

WIBU: Traditionally Restrictive for WHAT?

Ayo, it's B back for another shorter and ranty episode (Why Is B Upset). This episode, a recurring rant touching on things that upset me in relation to my culture, and some other commentary about society. We'll try to get the next one to be more light-hearted so this series isn't just me being angsty all the time. Maybe we'll pull a friend on. If you're still around or go back to listen to previous episodes, I appreciate you immensely.

I know the holiday season can be difficult for some, literally and metaphorically a cold time of the year. Keep going. You've got this. I believe in you and your abilities.

Hiatus 1: The Return

Ayo, it's B, after a long while of disappearing from this podcast scene. We love when the cumulative stressors from life, school, politics, and social matters drags us down into a drag. Not really. For legal reasons, that was a joke. However, we're going to hop back into this, weekly or biweekly, depending on how much I have going on. If you're still around, thank you. I promise to be better with this project, because this is something I genuinely want to carry on with.

Please Vote | Get Trump Out | This 2020 Election Matters

Link in the Instagram (@g00npod) bio goes to the website that has a 2020 Election page with Vote.org and Ballotpedia resources linked. This upcoming election matters. To the queer community. To immigrants. To people of color. To feminist issues. To education. To the environment. For the future.

I didn't say anything at the end of this one BUT: Please drink water. Please try to eat if you have not yet. Please take a moment to stretch. Please take any meds and vitamins you need to. September is Suicide Prevention Month, and this note is for anyone who needs it. I know I didn't speak on it in episodes, but please be kind to yourselves. Find your reason to stick around, no matter how small it might seem, if it works, that's all that matters. It can be picking up the mess in your room, petting all the animals you can, graduating, proving someone wrong, waiting for your next laugh. I hope the world and life treat you kindly, because you deserve to see how your life plays out. If you're considering or planning, please don't.
