S2E11 - The Modern Skeptics

Episode Notes

Jummah Mubarak! Ramadan has started and another episode is here. Probably second to last for the season...

Today's episode is a very special one since it is a crossover with another Muslim Podcaster. Well multiple podcasters. The Modern Skeptics are a group of 4 girls who produce a show called To Whom It May Concern. Here is what it is about in their own words:

"To Whom It May Concern, Our opinions matter, but are rarely sought out. That’s why the 4 of us decided to come together every week to talk about how we view various issues as young, Muslim American women specializing in different professions. Through this podcast we’re hoping to build a network, promote dialogue, and connect with others who are dealing with similar issues. Join us on our journey as we talk about current events, politics, mental health, and fun light-hearted conversations. So kick back, relax, and turn that volume all the way up.

Sincerely, The Modern Skeptics"

And so that is what I did. I sought them out and asked if they wanted to share how Quarantine has been going for them. And it was amazing to hear. We dived into 4 very unique but intertwined lives that ranged from frontline healthcare workers to a law student wondering if the Bar is delayed. We talked book recommendations, daily routines, and how their podcast has been doing.

Check it out and I hope you enjoy!

S2E8 - Maarten van Elst AKA Muslim Fit

Episode Notes

No stop on these episodes! Here is another one with Muslim Fit AKA Maarten Van Elst! (Side note: My recording malfunctioned and I tried to make it sound as best as possible for y'all. Alhamdulilah Maarten sounds great so please endure my parts and listen to the great advice from Maarten)

Maarten discovered Islam through his search for self-improvement, he was inspired by Islam’s teachings, that amongst other, promotes spiritual, social, physical and mental health. After converting to Islam in 2011, he didn’t see much of what was being preached actually being practised within the Muslim community. So combining his own hands-on knowledge from competitive bodybuilding (pre-islam), years of personal training and coaching experience and medical background (Maarten is a nurse anaesthetist), he felt the need to launch Muslim Fit (http://muslim-fit.nl).

Join us as we dive into why he started this, how he is trying to implement the teachings during this pandemic, and tips on how to stay healthy and fit as we enter week unknown of the Quarantine.

Hope you enjoy!
