EP: 16 Why It Doesn't Matter If You Have Competition.

1h 2m · What Nik Knows · 31 Jan 18:34

Welcome back to the leader of the pax podcast I’m your host Dr. Nikki Sammet and can you believe we are just a day away from February? Some people say that January is the slowest month of the year but it just feels like time is FLYING. I’ve been up to my ears in baby prep and turning inward as I prepare for maternity leave. It’s been an interesting process slowing down business as an entrepreneur. I’ve kinda had to make it up as I go. I was asked the other day when I plan on returning and I realized I had all the power in my response. I’m interested in seeing when my career lightbulb turns back on once the baby is here.

The last few episodes coming up are super special and are jam packed with knowledge. Like really really good stuff. For example, Today’s guest is a super star! She’s  An old co-worker turned soul sister and was my inspiration in getting into the podcasting world! I feel so blessed to have someone who was in the same industry as me who saw me as a bright light rather than competition.

Man, if I was to document how many times people have said to me that they couldn’t do something because someone else had already done it I would be a fricken millionaire.

Jillian Beth and I discuss WHY it’s ok to do what other people doing and WHY it’s so important that you break past those limiting beliefs and share your gift.

This week we have Jillian Beth a certified women’s empowerment coach who helps hundreds of individuals step into their power and craft their dream life. After working with so many clients, a pattern emerged: many women were limited in their growth in business and their personal lives.

She found that the difference between women who are unsure or confused about their purpose are not feeling connected to themselves need to feel empowered to in their feminine side. When women are not in tune with their wants, needs, and desires, they have a hard time receiving and often settle for what they believe is good enough.

As someone who used to feel dis-empowered, Jillian recognized this pattern well. She considers herself fortunate to be a survivor of sexual, mental, emotional, and physical abuse because she now has the opportunity to show other women that it’s possible (even probable!) to come out the other side and live the life of your dreams.

Over the years, Jillian has learned that the highest form of empowerment is becoming the best version of ourselves. Now, her passion and purpose is to support women in going after the life of their dreams and living their soul’s purpose.

Throughout our conversation several themes came up. #1 asking for help and recognizing the power in mentorship. #2 being curious about our professional journey rather than being frustrated with the fact we “haven’t found it yet” and #3 that even if there are other people in the same career as you, YOU, bring something special to the table!

This chickadee is a powerhouse radio host of Soul Purpose, coach, and intuitive being. Our conversations always spark interesting conversation and female empowerment. I cannot wait for you to hear today’s episode - there are so many take aways for you to snag and implement in your own life.

Also I have 5 spots available for coaching beginning June 2020! If you’re ready or interested in learning more about my services and understanding how a coach and support you reach out to me at [email protected]!

Alright I don’t want to give too much away so let’s head on in to the show!

Season 2 Finale: The Secret To Life Is Doing Less & Being More

SEASON 2 FINAL EPISODE!

1 year ago (tomorrow) I launched season 2 of What Nik Knows. It was formally known as Leader of the Pax and I solely focused on female entrepreneurship.

45 episodes later (40 live and 5 saved for season 3 launch!) the 2nd season of my podcast expanded more than I could ever have imagined. Beyond downloads, came new clients, new partnerships, and oh SO MUCH LEARNING!

When I started BMB I made a real effort in providing resources for pregnant, postpartum, and newish moms because we were in smack dap in the middle of quarantine. So the podcast become an educational and inspirational space for mothers, entrepreneurs, and personal development junkies. We focused on mental, physical, and emotional health, relationships, parenting, and identity and purpose. We cried and laughed and damn did we grow.

Today on the What Nik Know’s Podcast I celebrate the 40th and final episode of the 2nd season. The theme of today’s show is all about doing less and being more and that’s the mentality I’ll be taking with me as I hibernate before season 3 launch.

Beyond that I talk about the different guests we’ve had and topics we’ve covered throughout the year and dang am I grateful to have had these incredible people on the show!

I want to thank you for helping me grow this podcast. Because of you we are just about to hit 5,000 downloads which is a huge feat in itself. I produced many of these episodes with out childcare and nearly all of them without any production management help.

Until next season, ciao!

Is It OK To Want To Lose Weight or Should We Practice Loving Ourselves Instead? Breaking Down Body Image & Diet Culture with Molly Kate Wellness.

Raise your hand if you struggle or have struggled with your body image?

Yeah, that’s what I thought. A whole lot of us struggle with this.

Women are critiqued on their bodies right from the get-go. Too thin, too big, too soft, too muscular, too sexualized, too puritan… there is no win.

Today on the What Nik Know’s podcast I have the amazing @mollykatewellness who is a Body Image mentor.

Molly is a Body Image Coach and Mentor who believes that you can learn the skills of radical body acceptance in any body size. She loves watching people discover their inherent worthiness and step into the confident life they are meant for! Molly started coaching as a Certified Health Coach finding her niche in Intuitive Eating. Very quickly she discovered that food wasn't the root of the problem. She found that underneath that layer of food obsession, was an unhealthy relationship to our bodies. Molly's approach combines improving your body image through your head, your heart, and your body. She believes that everyone has all the tools they need within themselves and that each person has their own unique gifts and intuition to uncover! Molly believes that the more people there are being unapologetically themselves, the stronger we are as a whole!

I relate to this so much- food isn’t the problem, it’s the way I see myself.

I’ve shared on previous shows that body image and my relationship with food has been an ever changing and evolving relationship and I loved learning from Molly today.

Here are some of the amazing things you’ll hear on today’s show:

  1. The difference between mindful eating and intuitive eating
  2. How orthorexia shows up as healthy eating habits
  3. American women and body image
  4. How social media impacts our body image and what to do about it
  5. Breaking the belief system that our bodies are the only thing valuable about us
  6. How to teach children about a healthy body image right from the start
  7. How to set internal and external boundaries
  8. If its OK to lose weight or just love yourself as you are
  9. Diet culture BS

Personal Development is Not a Tony Robbins Seminar...It's Within You.

Personal development is not a Tony Robbins seminar… as much as you’d like to think so.

Today on the What Nik Know’s pod I go unscripted + unfiltered about my thoughts on personal development exertion.

We spend thousands of dollars and years doing THE WORK when really we need to do less WORK and more listening in.

Seminars, coaching, podcasts, books, all these things are tools to empower the journey but they aren’t the answer.

Personal development is not a seminar- it’s within you.
