Welcome back! In this weeks episode, I’m talking with Zack Wyatt, Founder and President of the Carolina Farm Trust, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that works to establish and support a regional food system beginning with the farmer. This work contradicts systems, industries and interests that fuel our current global food system. As you might imagine, this is not an easy mission.
In this episode we discuss what happens between farmers and our plates, why it is increasingly vital that we rely on local food, the outlook and obstacles of farming with a changing climate, the best ways to support local food, the biggest barriers to the success of an all-local food chain, and more!

Hello and welcome to FoodxThought – the podcast about food and nutrition, environmentalism and sustainability, and general wellbeing!
In today's episode, I'm talking with Kelsey Joseph of the Humane League– an organization whose mission is to end the abuse of animals raised for food by influencing the policies of the world’s biggest companies, demanding legislation, and empowering others to take action and leave animals off their plates. As you might imagine, it's a big challenge.
In this interview, we talk about why it's important to lead with compassion, what it's like to protest, some of major changes the Humane League has been able to make, taking on giant corporations like McDonalds, small changes anyone can make towards a more plant-focused plate, "reduce-itarianism", and more!

Today's "minisode" is the first of several deep-dives into the all-confusing world of NUTRITION. I'm currently studying for my Master's in Human Nutrition and on my way to become an RD and want to bring you with me on the journey and share with you all of the knowledge I pick up along the way.

There are four macronutrients– protein, lipids (fats), carbohydrates, and water! Today we're talking all about FATS, covering all of the above information.
It's so important to understand nutrition for what it is; fuel for our bodies, rather than something to be manipulated, controlled, or demonized. So the goal of these minisode's will be to push past that and look at nutrition at a scientific level and understand the nourishment it brings.
