In this episode, Wayne Johns and Jake Hicks dive deep with 'Canon Explorer of Light' Bruce Dorn.

Based in Arizona, Bruce is a Photographer, Director, Film maker and Educator, he's had a camera in his hands for over 50 years!

He was discovered by the editorial staff at Conde Nast at the age of 20 when he was a student, before he knew it he was being whisked off to New York to shoot editorial Fashion spreads. He progressed from stills photography into the production and direction of tv commercials 's and moved up to becoming a director/Cameraman in Hollywood.

Covering a multiplex of categories in his career including Automotive, Fashion, Light Comedy, Aerials, Under water and Special Effects design to the heart stopping moments of hanging out of helicopters on the set of the Arnold Schwarzenegger film 'Sixth Day'

An interesting episode with peek into just a little of Bruce's interesting and at times funny career so far..

Listen to Wayne Johns & Jake Hicks as they continue getting down and dirty with Jeff Allen, the MD Panavision Europe, in their UK HQ in London.

Panavision is a Motion Picture Equipment Company specialising in Cameras, Lenses, Lighting (Panalux), Grip, Remote Systems, and Filters (Lee Filters). 

In this episode we dive into a world of TV and Film, but also how the industry has progressed and where its heading to, and how thats good news for creatives and film makers wanting to get into this industry with the increase in demand for skill teams.

We also talk Cameras and lenses, and how they play an important role in the look and feel of a production, and how lenses and sensor formats should be chosen to give you 'that look'. A good lesson for photographers here, to get over that biggest is best syndrome. 

We talk about customising lenses, a service that Panavision offers,  to get that desired ‘look and feel’ to a motion picture, and how Panavision go about it by shifting the glass elements inside the lens, a kind of ‘tailored fitting service’ if you want to look at it like that.

Nice to hear that most DP’s choose their lenses, to get that desired look & feel’ first, over their choice of camera… We talk Hollywood, GOT Game of Thrones, Period Dramas, Netflix and more…

In this episode of Podlamania your hosts Wayne Johns & Jake Hicks Talk to Indiana based Wedding & Portrait Photographer Bradley Michael who tries to explain to us how he shoots and edits his world of colour in Black & White due to being almost completely colour blind.

We try and get our heads around how Brad, translates how he sees colour before he presses that shutter button but then even more confusing for us is how he then applies that in his retouching stages, and gets his colours looking so nice..

As people that have always seen colour its really hard to get your head around not seeing it to understand where brads coming from. Its certainly given him some challenges and he finds ways around them.

It left us scratching our heads a little but we left holding the upmost respect for Brad to be able shoot and use colour in the beautiful the way that he does, what a man with an amazing set of skills and talent.
