Sol Asylum Mix Series 016 - Terry Benedikt & Zodya

1h 46m · Published 19 May 09:36
The orbits of Zodya and Terry Benedikt intersected in the cosmos of Love-Foundation. This encounter led to a close friendship, countless beautiful b2b’s, and exciting projects together. Both share a deep acknowledgment for the importance of music in life and great respect for any form of artistic exploration of consciousness. Their tastes in digging are diverse and no source of inspiration is left unexplored. Seeing them play together may be referred to as synergy.
2019 marked the birth of Orbiting Souls, their party series across various venues in Berlin. Orbiting Souls aims to be a platform for the digging culture, original tastes/characters, and aspires to become a multidisciplinary network and music label in the very near future.
“This mix is a reflection of their feelings during COVID-19 quarantine. "We are very aware of how fortunate we are to live through these confusing times in Berlin. But quite honestly, we crave a good old analog rave with some good old social closeness, which is why it became fairly uplifting. All of these tracks are very close to our hearts. The process of creating a story out of them was inspiring and liberating, we hope it transmits."

Sol Asylum Mix Series 015 - Dan Curtin

1h 7m · Published 15 Apr 09:34
We almost can't contain our excitement here, having the absolute Legend...and one of the nicest, most down to earth dedicated innovative Musician in the scene
Dan Curtin join our Sol Asylum Mix Series!
We're honoured to present this live mix he recorded exclusively for our Series, which will take you on a winding, twisting journey for the next hour!. Turn up, loud and enjoy the ride!
Dan Curtin’s musical quest began amidst the inception of the techno and house phenomenon of the early 1990s. From his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio Dan experimented with a vast number of styles, producing innovative sounds of every variety: from Chicago to Detroit to the East Coast.
Dan’s considerably impressive discography dates back to 1992 when his first releases on Detroit’s 33 RPM Records and Belgium’s Buzz motivated him to launch his own production hub: Metamorphic Recordings. His unwillingness to commit to a singular style was instrumental to his continuously fresh releases on big players such as Peacefrog, Strictly
Rhythm and Sublime, and Soma while his forward-thinking approach brought him tremendous support from the likes of Carl Cox, Carl Craig, and many more.
In 2003 Dan's creative instincts provoked him to relocate to the fast-paced music scene of Berlin which triggered a string of new releases on young, happening labels such as Bass Culture, Saved, Bosconi and recently on Steffi’s Dolly Dubs. (listen here)
Over 70 singles, nine albums later Dan is just as innovative and fresh as he has ever been whether recording under his own name or under one of his many aliases such as Purveyors of Fine Funk. His refusal to lock himself into one style as well as his unique ability to collaborate with artists from a variety of genres has helped him to maintain not only his
status as an individual amongst a world of ever-increasingly like-minded musicians but also his status as a legend over two decades.

Sol Asylum Mix Series 014 - Derek Carr

1h 1m · Published 01 Feb 09:30
We are super excited to proudly present the next outstanding mix for our Series by the Irish legend, Derek Carr just ahead of his debut for our 6th year Anniversary of SolAsylum on the 29th of February. He has built a worthy reputation for producing stunning deep techno and delivering quality DJ and Live sets across Europe and we are just absolutely thrilled to have him celebrate with us soon.
Derek Carr has been producing and releasing Detroit-tinged electronic music for almost two decades. He has recently released music on labels such as ‘For those that Knoe’, ‘Revoke’, ‘Subwax’ and ‘Firescope’.
In 2001 Derek launched his own label ‘Trident Recordings’ and released the ‘Copper Beech e.p.’ (the only release to date) a collection of deep soulful techno. Only 500 copies were pressed and it has since become something of a collector’s item.
Subsequent releases on ‘Digital Soul’ and ‘Geek Records’ further cemented Carr’s place amongst a new generation of techno producers that looked to combine soul and melody with electronic dancefloor grooves.
Derek Carr is a name known by few and far between but he has built a worthy reputation for putting together stunning deep techno.

Sol Asylum Mix Series 013 - Madezh

58m · Published 01 Nov 15:30
We would like to welcome Madezh to the Sol Asylum series family. He is based in Split, Croatia, Mateo Jelicic aka Madezh is one of the undisclosed heroes for the underground scene in Split. His career began in 2002 by DJing at clubs and events later to become part of the crew of Underground Control between the years of 2006-2011.
Madezh is an open-minded DJ whom is constantly evolving and does not solely stick to genres like techno, house, etc… but defines music as what is good and what is bad by leaving it to the emotions of what the crowd is feeling at that certain moment on the dance-floor. You can experience these magical moments the most at the legendary Cruise Split Boat parties when Madezh takes over the booth to delve into deeper frequencies and sounds as the sun begins to rise and glisten over the Adriatic sea.
With a forthcoming release on “Residual” and “u.dig” records, the future looks to be exciting for an artist who has put in a lot of hard work and has surrounded himself with by like-minded people. We are happy to show some of his skills with this wonderful podcast. Sit back and enjoy the ride!

Sol Asylum Mix Series 012 - Kenneth Scott Live PA at Gravity 24.07.2019

52m · Published 11 Oct 22:30
Kenneth Scott's live PA at the last Gravity event powered by Sol Asylum and Belisa was simply astounding. We hope you enjoy his unique and elaborate sonic immersion as much as we did. If you do not know this artist already, please check his latest releases on Vakant, Another, Legwork, and his own Bad Animal imprint.
Kenneth spent his formative years surrounded by hippies in a small town in rural Iowa, and somewhere amongst their penchant for Transcendental Meditation, they introduced a young Mr. Scott to rave music. Soon after, between dabbling in Hip-Hop production, tinkering with cheap hardware, and full immersion in mid-90s House, Drum N Bass and IDM, Scott found himself on a one-way train to the distant shores of San Francisco, where his bastardized melange of electronic dance music was welcomed with wide-open arms.
After several years building notoriety as a promoter, collaborative performer, and consummate after-party DJ extraordinaire, Scott shifted his attention more seriously to solo production, which is garnering him increasing accolades in his current home of Berlin. Kenneth Scott is a busy man still on a one-way train, with no brakes.

Sol Asylum Mix Series 011 - Mato at Sol Asylum - Club der Visionäre 28.05.2019

2h 19m · Published 27 Jun 20:54
We would like to present this wonderful slice of dance floor bliss from our dear friend and collegue, Mato.
His set was the highlight of our night at the last Sol Asylum in Club Der Visionaere and we are very pleased to share a cut of this experience with all of you.
We are extremely proud of Mato for his dedication in production as well for his envious record collection.
Check out his latest record on Adam Collins infamous Euphoria Records, its a beautiful piece of minimal funk with an infectious groove. Get to know a bit more about this wonderful artist.
MATO (Mathieu Fabre) is a DJ hailing from the ancient islands of Malta. In his very early years he discovered his love of rhythm when he found himself frequenting the house of a family friend, a place where local DJs gathered to share music and mix records.
This exposure planted the seed that has since blossomed into his ever-growing obsession with all things music.
Matt began his career mixing in small bars and clubs in Panama. He then worked with friends to launch the record label K101 Music and has since released work from artists like Gari Romalis, Jay Tripwire, Owen Jay, and more. In 2011, he moved to Berlin to further refine his knowledge of music, expand his record collection, and collaborate with other artists.
Over the years, he’s kept one foot in Berlin's club culture and the other deep in Malta's energetic nightlife scene.

Sol Asylum Mix series 009 - Samuel Padden

1h 1m · Published 10 Apr 15:18
We would like to introduce you to our newest member of Sol Asylum Records, Samuel Padden.
We were totally blown away from his producing skills and this beautifully eclectic set was a convincing factor that led us to ask him to join our tight-knit family. Samuel is a self- confessed music junkie with 5 years under his belt in experience and is now coming to fruition in his productions.
Intelligent, forward-thinking dance music is what he is promoting, taking inspiration from all corners of electronic music and making it his own. He also has a flair for selection and digging seemingly mixing electro, house, techno and minimal from new to old and everything in between.
Keep an eye on Samuel, he will have a VA with us in Sept. and you can catch him play at our party on the 1st of July at CDV.

Sol Asylum Mix series 008 - Julie Marghilano B2B Miss Jools

1h 21m · Published 26 Mar 16:40

Sol Asylum Mix series 007 - Tom Ellis

59m · Published 22 Feb 19:27
Tom Ellis uniquely sophisticated set was a big highlight for us at this past weekends @sol-asylum-records anniversary party in Hoppetosse so we are more than happy to present this podcast made with all of his own productions for our mix series 007. A core member and resident of the Freerotation Festival, Tom Ellis has been releasing funk & jazz inspired house & techno since 2003, when he launched Trimsound, his first label, which was co-run with Leif.
His vast discography includes over 40 EPs and 7 albums that pop up on some of the world's most respected underground labels. His early appearances on Mindtours and Trimsound led to worldwide recognition and further releases and remixes for Archipel, Good Ratio Music, Classic, Philpot, Moon Harbour, Leap, Telegraph, Logistic, Black Key Records, Eye4Eye, Floppy Funk, Morris Audio, Flumo, Supremus Records, Hartchef Discos, Minibar, Highgrade, Klamauk, and Som Bom (the electronic spin-off label run by fellow Welsh men, Super Furry Animals) and many, many more.
Forever steering into the weirder side of things, he tries to anchor himself with his experience as a self-taught musician. Playing drums, bass, keys and guitar from an early age has given him a good foundation from which to understand and explore electronic music with the groove, soul and funk of a real musician.
2016 has seen the launch of his new solo label, In Modo Di, with the first record landing high in the bestseller charts, and the launch of his new monthly radio show on KMAH radio, The Taunton Loft Sessions. Sit back and enjoy this wonderful piece of joy created by the man himself.
