Sony Music Presents: Time to Talk with Sean Sennett

Singer/songwriter John Schumann takes us on a journey into the writing of ‘I Was Only 19’ on this special episode of Time To Talk.  John explains what motivated him to write this first person account of an Australian soldier’s experience in the Vietnam War.  He also explains where Redgum, as a band, were at, at the time of recording, as well as his troubled relationship with pop music tastemakers Countdown.  Join us as Schumann recounts writing one of the most significant and impactful songs in Australia’s social history.

This week’s special guest on Time To Talk is Rugby League immortal, Johnathan Thurston.  Chatting to Sean Sennett, JT discusses his life in and out of football.  Going way back, Thurston takes us from his early days right through to the end of his playing career.  He discusses what it takes to play State of Origin football, his cultural obligations as a First Nation’s man in 2021 and his work with the JT Academy.  And … the way he describes kicking a football is pure poetry.

Alice Cooper is our very special guest on Time To Talk this week.  To coincide with the release of his new album Detroit Stories, Alice talks to Sean Sennett about recording the album.  He discusses covering the Velvet Underground and the MC5 as well as the originals that make up the record.  Alice chats about teaming up with his old buddy, producer Bob Ezrin.  Along the way you’ll hear anecdotes about everyone from Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley to Eddie Van Halen and Glen Campbell.

For the album Troy wrote songs with the likes of Don Walker, Paul Kelly, Ian Moss and Kevin Bennett. He discusses not only his writing and recording process, but also - as a First Nation’s man - his relationship to country.

Pete Murray joins Sean Sennett on this week’s episode of Time To Talk.  The acclaimed singer songwriter takes us into the studio where he recorded his latest EP, The Night.  Going way back, Pete talks about how a football injury and a chance suggestion of a guitar lesson, while he was in recovery, led him to where he is today. Fast forward to 2020 and Pete discusses his songwriting process, the music industry as it stands today and he lets us in on just who his most famous fans might be.

Country music star Adam Harvey is our guest on this week’s edition of Sony Music Presents Time To Talk. Chatting to Sean Sennett, Adam discusses the writing and recording of his new album, Songs From Highway One - with a few good anecdotes about his life and times thrown in for good measure.
