Expert Strategies for Better Sleep, Health, and Stress for Retirement with Stevyn Guinnip, M.S., CWC

1h 3m · Published 09 Jun 09:00

In this episode of the Functional Retirement Podcast, host Thatcher Taylor interviews Stevyn Guinnip, a specialist in health and wealth. They discuss the convergence of health and retirement planning, and how it affects longevity risk, income distribution, protection, estate planning, and everything that goes into an optimal retirement. They share actionable items that listeners can use in their day-to-day life to increase their wealth and health, and how promoting health and wealth can benefit both financial advisors and their clients. The interview also covers the impact of COVID-19 on the industry and how it has affected business growth.

The episode introduces the three W's for health: walk, water, and sunlight. Walking is an excellent way to improve physical and mental health, and the speaker recommends walking more than one currently does. The second W, water, involves drinking 80 ounces of water in the first 10 hours of the day, following Dr. Huberman's recommendations. Staying hydrated is crucial for overall health. The third W, sunlight, is not explicitly discussed in this transcript, but the episode emphasizes the importance of getting sunlight on the eyes in the morning to regulate the body's internal clock and prepare for deep sleep later in the day.

The episode also stresses the importance of managing stress and taking breaks throughout the day to prepare the body for restful sleep at night. Disconnecting the brain from the body throughout the day can result in a hyperactive state at night, preventing deep sleep. Improving the quality of sleep is crucial for overall health and wellness.
