Darwin Pennye, Exec. Director of the Urban Youth Academy

46m · Published 23 Oct 21:00

We have been looking forward to interviewing this week’s guest for a few months. In fact, as you may recall from an episode in June, we told his “brother from another mother” that we needed to get him on the C-10 Podcast. So it’s a huge honor to introduce you to this week’s guest, the Executive Director of the Kansas City MLB Urban Youth Academy Darwin Pennye.

The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted Pennye, and he spent five seasons in the minor leagues before getting into coaching and then becoming the Athletic Director in Texas. He came to Kansas City to become the Executive Director of the Urban Youth Academy when it opened.

Dayton Moore from the Crown Town Challenge Webinar

35m · Published 17 Oct 00:00

We have a unique episode for you this week. As you may have seen -- or you might’ve been on the original call -- this week we began closing down the Crown Town Challenge campaign with a celebration webinar on leadership with three tremendous leaders. One of those was Dayton Moore. After the first hour of the webinar with the three leaders, Dayton Moore and Matt Fulks spent the last 30 minutes answering viewer questions. Since it was an interesting conversation and we're pretty much at the "Dayton's Dozen" episode, this seemed like a good week to share this conversation.

Matt Marasco, Royals' Director of Leadership Development

48m · Published 09 Oct 14:00

After recording the initial episode of the C-10 Podcast with CYITML founder Dayton Moore, he said, "Marasco is someone you need to get on this podcast." As you'll hear in this episode, Dayton was right. Marasco, the Royals' Director of Leadership Development, shares a lot of wisdom about the overall subject of leadership and the differences in leadership styles between players such as Alex Gordon and Whit Merrifield...and how that can apply to anyone in a leadership position.

Ron Fredman: Ep. 21

28m · Published 01 Oct 20:00

The beauty of this podcast focusing on leadership and mentoring is that when a company sponsors the podcast, it’s not a shameless plug to interview one of that company’s leaders. As we kick off October, this month's presenting sponsor is Stepp & Rothwell, Inc., and we're chatting with the company's Director of Client Relations, Ron Fredman.

Ron joined Stepp & Rothwell earlier this year, after a varied career in leadership and fundraising. He’s been a fundraiser for the Kansas City Ballet and the Kansas City Symphony, he’s worked in management consulting and public relations, and he even had a stint as a sportswriter for the Kansas City Star. Fredman, who's actually an Eagle Scout, has been active with the Boy Scouts for 40 years.
