Reggie Koh is the founder and brain behind The Financial Coconut, a leading podcast about financial literacy on Apple and Spotify. He is also general manager of a cloud computing startup. After dropping out of University, he strived for entrepreneurship and founded 2 startups which translated into great learning experiences. He has also written a book about purpose called “Living Life to the Fullest”. Today, he continues to champion financial literacy through podcasting.

Tian Wen is a Market Analytics Research Associate at a venture capital firm. He did over 4 years of internship experience in research, writing, and marketing during his time in NUS. He majored in political science and economics, and is also certified in digital marketing and 2 Asian languages.

Yi Rong is a food scientist in a local sustainability startup. Her work centres on devising new ways to upcycle surplus produce and the unwanted by-products of food manufacturing. Formerly a microbiologist in an agritech MNC, she was involved in the treatment of slaughterhouse wastewater as well as the development of field-ready test kits for CoVID-19 and African Swine Fever (ASF). Yi Rong graduated from Durham University with a Natural Sciences degree in 2018.

Nicole Ng and Daniel Lee created MARKON, an e-magazine which helps SMU Marketing students navigate the world of marketing. It consists of 19 articles written by marketing students and 1 veteran about the different marketing jobs and careers out there.   

In this Careers of Millennials podcast, I invite the both of them to share how MARKON e-Mag was created, what are their personal thoughts about the different marketing verticals, and their tips for marketing students in University. We also discussed networking and personal branding tips to get a job in marketing.

As I try to understand why we should care about blockchain, I spoke to Syed Shah, an investment banking program manager, and he shared his latest observations about blockchain in the banking space, and how it can impact our careers. 

Syed Shah is a business change lead for the APAC region in a global investment bank. Syed brings 12 years of experience in London’s financial industry. Syed helps investment bank front line systems run smoothly by managing change projects and collaborating across technology functions. Syed is interested in career advice for young people starting out in their careers.
