Boozy Biddies Talk Wine

Part one of the two part noble grape episode focuses on the three red varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir, while also touching briefly on a “bonus” noble grape Syrah. Different sources claim different numbers of noble grapes, citing there can be as little as six or as many as twenty but for the sake of ease, the Boozy Biddies have focused on the original three for the majority of this episode. This is an easy introduction to three of the most popular red grapes in the winemaking world.

Following in step with the introductory episodes, Kara and Calla broach the subject of wine production by breaking it down into four styles: white, orange, rose and red. Each style of wine is produced with the same steps but with varying levels of skin contact: white with none and orange, rose, and red with varying levels of time spent on skin. The skin contact is the main difference between these styles and the main focus of the discussion with the typical meandering into other areas of wine production and history.

Kara and Calla introduce Boozy Biddies – their new podcast concept where two ladies discuss why and how they came to put this project together.
