She also holds two Master’s degrees from Penn State and George Washington University, respectively, in Early Childhood Special Education and Public Health. She is a co-founder and co-host of The Woke Desi podcast, one of the largest independently run South Asian podcasts in the world. Liese O'Halloran Schwarz grew up in Washington, DC after an early childhood overseas. She attended Harvard University, and then medical school at University of Virginia. While in medical school, she won the Henfield/Transatlantic Review Prize for her short fiction, and also published her first novel, Near Canaan. She specialized in emergency medicine, eventually returned to writing, and published her second novel, The Possible World , in June 2018. Harpreet M Dayal is an interdisciplinary artist, learner, and believer in the power of the arts to connect and heal. Born and raised in London, England she moved to Calgary, Canada in 2015. With a background in finance, moving to Canada encouraged her to explore her creativity and invest in her artistic practice. Since then, Harpreet has published a children’s book, 'Wilbert the Worm,’ a chapbook of poetry, and is currently working on another poetry collection. In 2017, Harpreet founded ‘Love Notes’ an event that gathers artists from across disciplines to create a performative love note to Calgary and beyond. Since its inception, Harpreet has worked collaboratively with Arts Commons to bring Love Notes to their Amplify Cabaret Series, and to Moonlight Market.
