The Importance of Being Grateful

The Dare2Dream Podcast is Where Dreams Happen!  This Podcast is the official voice of Dare2Dream Career Coaching, where we will offer coaching to spiritually minded professional women to manifest their dream job and break free to live the life they have been called to live.

Scriptures:

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (Colossians 3:17).

“Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (Romans 7:25).

“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds” (Psalms 9:1).

 

Let Us Pray:

Gracious and all-powerful one, Lord and Savior, God of all, we come to you right now in prayers, of grace, love, and peace, but mostly we come to give you thanks. Lord we lift our hands in gratitude for all you do, all you give and for going out ahead of us, to make plans to prosper and grow us into your daughters. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

 

Our focus “The Importance of Being Grateful.”

There are four key areas to practice gratitude and to increase your grateful meter.

 

4 Gratitude Practices

Learn Prayers of Gratitude. In many spiritual traditions, prayers of gratitude are considered to be the most powerful form of prayer, because through these prayers people recognize the ultimate source of all they are and all they will ever be.

Keep a Gratitude Journal. Establish a daily practice in which you remind yourself of the gifts, grace, benefits and good things you enjoy. Setting aside time on a daily basis to recall moments of gratitude associated with ordinary events, your attributes, or valued people in your life this gives you the potential to interweave a sustainable life theme of gratefulness.

Remember where you came from. To be grateful in your current state, it is helpful to remember the hard times that you once experienced. What God has already pulled you through is a reminder of what he can and will do later. When you remember how difficult life used to be and how far you have come, you set up an explicit contrast in your mind, and this contrast is fertile ground for gratefulness.

Make a Commitment to be Grateful. Make being grateful a practice and a habit. Research shows that pledging (oath or promise) to perform a behavior increases the likelihood that the action will be executed. Therefore, write your gratitude commitment statement or gratitude intention statement. This could be as simple as “I commit to counting my blessings each day,” or “I will intentionally be grateful in every aspect of my life.” and post it somewhere where you will be reminded of it every day.

How To Create An Abundance Mindset

Our focus in our episode today “How to create an Abundance Mindset.” 

Abundance is about flourishing. It is operating with no lack.

 

Our scripture for this Podcast:

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. (Psalm 2:5)

The Lord will open the abundant storehouses of the skies where he keeps the rain, and he will send rain on your land at just the right times. He will make you successful in everything you do. You will have plenty of money to lend to other nations, but you won’t need to borrow any yourself. (Deut 28:12)

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. (Matt 6:33)

Having an abundant mindset means:

  • You embrace and welcome change, viewing it as a critical key to life
  • It gives you the courage to take full advantage of your dreams. Even when they appear hard to reach
  • Increase your creativity and inspires you to grow
  • Builds self-confidence and a belief that your dreams will come to pass

 

How to Create an Abundance Mindset:

• Own It! Take responsibility for and control of your life.

• Embrace Positive Change!

• Make a Plan!

• Work your Plan!

• Start with the Spiritual

• Do it Gods way - you cannot cheat and win.

Faith is complete trust or confidence in someone or something.

Faith involves intellectual assent to a set of facts and trust in those facts. For example, we have faith in Jesus Christ. This means we completely trust Jesus for our eternal destiny. We give intellectual assent to the facts of His salvific death and bodily resurrection, and we then trust in His death and resurrection for our salvation.

Faith simply means believing that something is true, and then committing our lives to it.

 

Our scripture for this Podcast:

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)

 

Prayer:

O’ God our Lord and Savior we lift up our hands in praise of you. Thank you for placing your mind in us, and for giving us faith beyond measure. Amen.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. Amplified

The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd.

What is then so important about faith:

  1. Without Faith Nothing Happens
  2. No Faith, No Power
  3. No Faith, No Progress

So what happens if we replace the word faith with Dream….Let’s look at this again.

P.U.S.H. - Pray Until Something Happens

In Episode 9 we will focus on “P.U.S.H.- Pray Until Something Happens.” 

PUSH - In the late 90’s I started a prayer ministry entitled PUSH. It was when I first began to understand the power and importance of prayer.

Our scripture for this Podcast:

1Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. 2Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. (Psalm 51:1-2)

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7)

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. (1 John 5:14-15)

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, God of all as you hold all power in your hands, Lord we petition you this day to be the keeper of our faith the author and finisher of our faith and the light unto our path, hear our prayer and incline your ear, Amen.

5  Prayer Success Factors:

  4. Obey (Self Discipline)
  5. Come in Jesus’ name

The Power of Dare2 Dream

Welcome is the Dare to Dream Podcast with Rev. Lisa Ealy, where we focus on helping spiritually minded professional women get unstuck to manifest their dream job to the live the lifestyle they have been called to.

In Episode 8 we will focus on “The Power of Dare2 Dream.” 

I am so excited to share episode 8 of the Dare2Dream Podcast with you. As we take this journey together, I need to share with you that 8 is a very important number in my life. My birthday is on the 8th, my line number when I pledged was 8 and eight also represents eternity.  In addition, this is 2018. So as an extra special recognition for the number 8. For the eighth person to connect with me on social media Instagram or Facebook.

Our scripture for this Podcast:

“Be strong and courageous and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God; my God is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished. (1 Chronicles 28:20)

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

Prayer:

Gracious God, we are grateful that you have given us hearts of strength and courage to dare to dream. Lord lead and guide us along the way so we can be more daring, so we can overcome every obstacle and walk into our destiny and dreams, Amen.

In daring to dream my hope and prayer is that everyone I touch on this journey forward will be somehow transformed in exactly who they were called to be. The deepest desire in my heart is that some small part of this podcast, the Facebook group or the coaching or webinars or book.

The most important in Daring to Dream is courage.

The 4 keys to Daring to Dream:

  1. Courage
  2. Strength
  3. Fortitude
  4. Belief

First Courage.  According to Colin Powell courage is, Courage is not about self-aggrandizement or increasing your own power, or bravado, or desperate initiatives. It’s about the willingness to respectfully, relentlessly, and unapologetically challenge people – including the smartest, toughest people around you – in the pursuit of unit goals and performance excellence.” But for this type of courage, you need to first walk your talk.  But wisdom is also part of true courage. We must seek the wisdom of God to know when to step and when to wait. When to seek, when to pray, when to fast. But not just the what but also the how.

Secondly Strength.  Strength is a combination of courage and wisdom. There is no strength without first courage. Strength starts where courage ends; Strength is like muscle memory.  Like the memory foam in products. When you use your muscles, they flex and build.  When your muscles flex and build.  Strength is the ability to impact change. Robert Schuller says, “Tough times never last but touch people do.” Take this all in and ask what does it mean to you. How will you strengthen yourself?

The Third Fortitude.  Fortitude in its purest form is a synonym for courage and strength.  It is courage in adversity; it is bravery. Or exhibiting bravery in the most difficult of circumstances. Think back to a time of your seemingly worst days, you felt depressed, your marriage or relationship was failing, or you did not have a relationship at all. You were by yourself, peering with pea green envy at the window other people’s happy lives. You were kicked out of school; you were fired from your job, your car was reposed, you were on the brink of losing everything…. BUT GOD..  had a fire of courage, strength, and fortitude burning inside of you to get up, to speak up, lift your head up, and to put just one foot in front of the other…. And before you knew it things began to change. Think back on this time not trying to forget but try to remember, how you felt, what you did to overcome, and the joy in your heart when you came through on the other side of your pain…. This is the type of fortitude I am speaking about.  This is the thinking that allows you to think beyond common sense and get out of your own way.

Fourthly Belief.  In the song from The Wiz staring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson, Lena Horn encourages Dorothy through the song “Believe” Believe you can use this experience to get through anything. Of course, I pray that you never reach that level again, but use what you have to get to where God is calling you. You can do it, what you want is BIG, it’s so big in fact it scares you to death. This is right where God wants you to be. A wise man Rev. Dr. Fowler of Akron Ohio shared in a talk I attended he shared that his only regret in life was that he did not dream bigger. He had not set his bar higher. So on today, Dare2Dream set your bar so high that it is out of your reach, You can’t even see it in the distance. What will happen is that you will begin to strive for the impossible goal, the impossible dream, and then with each day that passes, and your continued pursuit of it, it will be closer and closer, and you will achieve beyond your wildest dreams.  But also, be sure to suspend in disbelief. Act as of success is for certain. And it certainly will be. Act like you have complete faith.

So, daring to dream is when a dream doesn't become a reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work. But when you dare to dream, it must come from the heart if you really want it.

The 5 S’s to Feed Your Soul

Scripture:

Finally, sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. (Phil 4:8)

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline. (2 Tim 1:7)

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. (James 1:2-3)

 

Prayer:

Father God, We know that whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, it all comes from our source, our gracious and Heavenly Father. Lord, we thank you that you have removed a spirit of fear as far as the east is from the west, and placed in our hearts, power, and love and a sound mind to do your will and seek after our goals and dream daily in the name of Jesus, Amen.

 

Let’s hop right to our topic- The 5 S’s to feed your Soul. I want to share the 5 S’s and then break down each one a bit if that’s OK.

 

The 5 S’s to Feed Your Soul:

 

  1. Source
  2. Silence
  3. Solitude
  4. Stillness
  5. Sanctuary

 

First Source. The Source of all things, that which created the heavens and earth, that which breathed life into us.  For me, it is God Almighty. For me, it is not beyond the realm of possibility for the same God to be known by different names – but one source, yet all speaking in our tounges. My source is Adonai, my All and All. Without my source, I am nothing at all.  I honor and lit up my source. The goal here is to read the instructions that God let for us, read His word daily. You can start with the scriptures found in this podcast.

 

The Second S is Silence. This world is so noisy.  We are all overly stimulated with news, constant videos and television streaming, along with music, text notifications and notices, video games, Facebook, Instagram, Snap Chat and all the many screens we have access to and use, the passwords we must remember, the information we ingest and must report out on – it is ALL JUST TOO MUCH. Even when we go shopping whether online or in person, there are millions upon millions of choices and decisions to make. There is information that we are only capable of a limited number of decisions we can make each day. I mean good, well informed, sold decisions. This is why Mark Zuckerberg and the Steve Jobs of the world wear primarily the same thing every day. When we remove, all the unnecessary, and insignificant decisions, we can truly be silent. Consider what you can remove from your every day to gain some silence.  When I first experience silence on a higher level, I never expected what happened - to happen.  When my family and I first moved to the DMV, I began to test my theory, and I drove home to Ohio alone with no radio or sound at all. I was amazed by what happened to me on the inside. I found my ride refreshing, as I was able to take in the beauty of fall and all the beautiful colors, purples, reds, oranges and yellow. I felt a connection with God and his creation that I had not experienced since my time in Hawaii. The concept of being still was for me - taken to a whole new level.

 

The Third S is Solitude. If our minds are consistently being triggered, and it is influenced it is very difficult to achieve any level of solitude.  The type of solitude I am refereeing to is when you can sit with your thoughts, and focus on what you need to accomplish, do, dream or just simply be without other tasks, other people’s needs or just sitting still…. without anything interrupting your solitude.  I recall a time when I thought I had achieved this, and something reminded me that I was not at the level of solitude I thought I was. I was listening to the radio, and an advertisement for a large big box department store came on, and they were advertising a white sale., but not just any white sale but the largest white sale of the YEAR, so large in fact that as they said I didn’t want to miss it.  I was only a few blocks from home, but I found myself turning around in my car heading in the opposite direction to go and partake of the White Sale. Then it hit me -  I did not need any additional sheets or towels… and I turned myself around and headed back home. I share this story to emphasize the importance of our solitude and the importance of our need to have it and the importance of guarding it and placing boundaries around it for our greater and greatest selves, and for up leveling, for reaching your high vibration self.

 

Stillness is the fourth S. Scripture tells us to be still and know that I am God. (Psalm 46:10) Why be still you ask. We are still so that we can hear, see, feel and touch our source. God is always speaking to us, but because we are constantly moving, it prevents us from hearing, seeing and feeling His presence. We are not available for God to place in our souls and spirits that which is essential for us to manifest our dream jobs. God cannot reach us the line is busy. He is knocking at the door, and we don’t hear it, He sent us an email, but it is lost with all the other things we missed or overlooked.  For us to receive power, renewed energy, from the only source I know is to be still and know….He alone is the source, find some time to be still and see, and watch Him work. It’s funny when I hear Christians say; I don’t feel the presence of God like I once did, what I know to be true, God has not moved, He is the same yesterday, today and always.  Try it, be still for 5 minutes, then 10 then 15. Before long, you will be able to still for hours.

 

I saved the best S for last, number five - Sanctuary. For me, my home office is a major part of my sanctuary. Before this, I did not truly understand what having a personal sanctuary could do for me. In 2017, I had like many years in the past created a list of goals and placed them on a vision board. Fast forward to August when I got serious about achieving my goals, I started with decluttering and making my home office my sanctuary. When it was completed, I was able to focus and begin to achieve on a level I had not experienced prior.  I saw my way through making real progress on my goals.  To see my Vision Board for 2017, check out the link in the show notes. But what makes it my sanctuary, is my books and Bibles and a space I created and defined as my own. I have a custom scented candle that sits on a warmer, I have fresh flowers, and all my senses are positively engaged. It is very feminine; there are positive affirmations all around me and a beautiful chandelier that my husband picked out for me. But the one thing that makes it my sanctuary is that it is MY PERSONAL SPACE, and all MINE, mine, mine, mine.  Every day, I meditate, journal, and have quiet time. I also work on my dreams, goals, and aspirations in this space. My advice is - If you don’t have a space that is all your own, make this part of your goals now and in 2019.

How To Eat An Elephant

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. “Proverbs 16:3

 

Prayer:

Shall we pray – Heavenly Father, you are the one and only true and living God, and we know you have our plans in your hand and they have been established since the foundation of the earth, we pray for direction, guidance, and wisdom, we pray for enlarged territories, and we pray that nothing with hurt or harm us. We commit our plan to you as we not go forward to see what the end will be. Amen.

How do you eat an elephant? I know it’s a crazy thought, eating an entire elephant. It is no different than the big goals we have identified for ourselves.  If you are anything like me I made bigger than life goals for 2018. Some of which were so big I would literally have to work day and night to accomplish. But, I knew that when I made them a goal during my visioning for 2018.  What I also, know to be true is that I have never seen the righteous forsaken or His seed begging bread (Psalm 37:25b) Yes, maybe you have heard you can only Eat an Elephant One Bite at a time.  When you are when dealing with a large task, goal, or project it is one bite, one step at a time.

These last few weeks I have really been struggling with being overwhelmed with all that needs to get done, we are planning for guest visiting us, I have two new team members I am onboarding, and to top it off my A/C in my car is in need of repair. And living the DMV in June it is super-HOT.

My Elephant is my coaching business Dare2Dream (actually, my dream job!)  are all the things in need to be doing now versus later, thee ideas that I need to get on paper and the other ideas I need the help of my team to accomplish.  It’s fun but all very hard work.

Here are few suggestions to get you on track with eating your elephant and not feeling overwhelmed:

 

  • The first thing to do is reflect on your relationship to the elephant. Is it YOUR elephant, i.e. is it YOUR goal? Is it YOUR dream? Are you working on what you think you “should” be doing, or setting a goal to make others happy? If it’s not your elephant, decide how much power you want to give it. What do you have a choice about? Can you decide to release attachment to the goal, knowing you have bigger fish –  or elephants – to fry?

 

  • So, let’s make and assumption you have decided that the elephant is one of your choosing; You have decided to out your goals first (put on your air bag so to speak) you’ve named it Dream Job, Book or Blog, Vlog, Side Hustle or Relationship or New Career or Cleaning Out and Decluttering, Getting a New Mindset.  How will you feel once you have it… stop and close your eyes for a moment?  And really think about HOW YOUR WILL FEEL.

 

  • Try renaming the elephant to reflect what you want to experience. Focus on your intention. Using this guidance, my Dream Job (elephant) might sound like this: I feel empowered and confident as I share my unique voice with the world. I am making a difference in the lives of the women I work with, I am leaving the world a better place, I am transforming lives. I am helping others to reach the place God is calling them too.

 

  • Does this help? By focusing on what I You/I want to feel, You/I are opening up to possibility that it will happen. My elephant might evolve, and if I’m too focused on a specific make and model, appearing at a specific time, I might miss an even better outcome.

 

Some other tips for keeping the elephant in perspective:

 

  • Be Authentic: Keep showing up you and only the “real to you” with authentic intentions and goals, the more likely you are to be committed and take action.

 

  • One Bite at a Time: When you feel overwhelmed, it helps to remember to take your commitments and actions and break them into bite size pieces, or fun size goals. Remind yourself that you have choices about what you say “yes” and “no” to, and when and how you move forward. Let your yeses be yes and noes be no.

 

  • Celebrate Your Wins: Each time you reach a milestone, celebrate it! Treat yourself in a way that feels appropriate. Acknowledge your progress and channel that positive energy into taking the next bite.

 

  • Enlist Helpers:  Get a coach who will help you stay on track and who will support you.  Keep connected to people who inspire, encourage and challenge you. Hire me as your Dare2Dream coach to help you.

 

  • Eliminate Negative People:  Stay away from negative influence, news media, television, from our circle of influence, and especially dream killers, and snatchers.

 

  • Trust the Process: By focusing on the experience you want to have and making choices based on your intention, you can trust that you are moving towards your goal, even if things look differently than you anticipated.

Let us Pray -   Gracious and all-wise God, today we recommit our dream into your hands. Lord, we believe you gave them to use for the purpose of manifesting them but doing it right here and now. Lord guide us and strengthen us to do exactly what your word tells us.  To fulfill your plans, to commit our works, delight ourselves in you know that we can do all things in you. Amen.
