BYOB Presents... Redacted Reads!

53m · Published 25 May 03:00

BYOB, the Bring Your Own Book Podcast, is back for Season 3 featuring your favourite bookworms Nikki and Kelly. Every episode we'll discuss the book we read and share our unfiltered thoughts and opinions.

In today's special episode, we’re dishing on our latest bookish experiment... Redacted Reads!

Each BYOB host was tasked with gifting the other a book and redacting all information that could give the reader clues as to which book it was. That's right; the reader has no idea what the book is called, who wrote the book, or even what genre the book falls under!

Was their experiment a success or a devastating failure? Will these two bookish besties remain bookish besties, or will they end up DNF-ing their Redacted Read (and friendship)? Tune in to find out!

A romance writer who no longer believes in love and a literary writer stuck in a rut engage in a summer-long challenge that may just upend everything they believe about happily ever afters.
---

This episode, the BYOB ladies are joined by Tilly to discuss #1 New York Times bestselling author Emily Henry's Beach Read, which happens to be Nikki and Kelly's favourite Emily Henry book. Don't be fooled by the title! While this hilarious, heartwarming, and sometimes melancholy book does in fact take place by a beach, we feel that the book is best enjoyed snuggled up with a cozy blanket and a warm, comforting drink. Cheers!

"The Stolen Heir" by Holly Black

51m · Published 20 Apr 03:00

BYOB, the Bring Your Own Book Podcast, is back for Season 3 featuring your favourite bookworms Nikki and Kelly. Every episode we'll discuss the book we read and share our unfiltered thoughts and opinions.

This episode, we're heading back to Elfhame and reading The Stolen Heir by Holly Black, the first in a new duology set after the events of The Folk of the Air trilogy!

The first book in The Folk of the Air trilogy, The Cruel Prince, was featured back in season 1 on our third episode. Missed it, or want a refresher? Check it out here: https://tinyurl.com/ens5hzxy

---
A runaway queen. A reluctant prince. And a quest that may destroy them both.

Eight years have passed since the Battle of the Serpent. But in the icy north, Lady Nore of the Court of Teeth has reclaimed the Ice Needle Citadel. There, she is using an ancient relic to create monsters of stick and snow who will do her bidding and exact her revenge.

Suren, child queen of the Court of Teeth, and the one person with power over her mother, fled to the human world. There, she lives feral in the woods. Lonely, and still haunted by the merciless torments she endured in the Court of Teeth, she bides her time by releasing mortals from foolish bargains. She believes herself forgotten until the storm hag, Bogdana chases her through the night streets. Suren is saved by none other than Prince Oak, heir to Elfhame, to whom she was once promised in marriage and who she has resented for years.

Now seventeen, Oak is charming, beautiful, and manipulative. He’s on a mission that will lead him into the north, and he wants Suren’s help. But if she agrees, it will mean guarding her heart against the boy she once knew and a prince she cannot trust, as well as confronting all the horrors she thought she left behind.
