Dorsa Boyat, a musician and mountaineer originally from Iran believes that the suppression she faced as a female growing has helped her to develop a stronger mindset and resilience. Being female can be tough, but it can be very different in another culture. For centuries, women and girls have been told what they can and can’t do. We now have freedom within western societies, however in countries like Iran, women and girls are still not given the same rights as their male counterparts. Ultimately, this act of control has given Dorsa the understanding of who she really wanted to become and helped her grow her self-belief. Whatever your background, you can become who you want to be, if you are willing to stand up and believe in yourself.
