The number one piece of advice I can give you, is attached to your head already. Listen to what is being said so you can get into the mind of your potential client. Remember, we have 2 ears and 1 mouth.

When’s the last time you read what your consumers are reading? Consumed what your consumers are consuming? Think about that, what your consumers are consuming. The ones that are going to come to you, the ones that you want to be relevant to. As marketers, we need to listen.

I hope this inspires you today. Let’s listen, let’s read the room, let’s read the audience, so we know how to attract the right people into our world.

Dr. Mary Barbera “fell” into the autism world in 1999 when her first-born son, Lucas was diagnosed with autism. Since then, Mary transformed from a confused and overwhelmed parent to a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst and best-selling author. After earning a PhD, Mary launched her first online course in early 2015 and later built additional courses and a membership program to help both parents and autism professionals.

In her vlogs, podcasts, books, webinars, and online courses, Mary teaches her unique step-by-step system and method to help children with autism (or signs of autism) talk more while reducing tantrums and other problem behaviors.

Mary’s latest book Turn Autism Around was published in 2021 by Hay House and is helping parents and professionals start turning things around for young children with early signs of autism and older children with an autism diagnosis who are still struggling with talking, tantrums, eating, sleeping and potty training.

How big does your audience need to be for you to feel successful and fulfilled? Seriously, what is enough? How much is enough?

When you achieve that first goal, you suddenly have a new goal, and that cycle keeps repeating. We get entrapped in this thought pattern and think that fulfillment must be at the next level. Therefore, success keeps getting moved forward to the next thing. So, no matter where you are, it’s like “What’s the next thing?”

I challenge you when it comes to your audience, look at why you are really building that audience. What is the purpose behind the vanity metric? What is it that you think you need to feel fulfilled?

While you’re on your journey, you’re collecting an audience, you’re bringing people into our world. And the truth is, we really don’t need as many followers as we think. We don’t need the virtual line around the corner. We don’t need the huge follower count. We don’t need a huge email list. What we do need is connection. We need to make sure we are tuned in with our audience, and we need to make sure we are tuned in with who we are, so we project the best self that we have.

So, how much is enough? I guarantee it’s not anywhere near where you’re placing that metric. You can be fulfilled now, and you can look at the numbers. How many sales? How many paying clients do you need to reach the goal, to live the life and lifestyle that you want, to make the impact that you want?

You don’t need a huge following. Instead, go deeper with fewer.

As experts, we live with whatever our service is every day.

It's nearly a hundred percent of what we're thinking about for our business.
