Follow us as we interview Brad Olsen, a professional geotechnical engineer for Ninyo & Moore. In this episode we dive into how Olsen got to where he is, his day to day life and how he adapts to an everchanging industry. One of the first employees at the Southern Nevada Ninyo & Moore office over 24 years ago, Olsen has had the pleasure of working on several large Las Vegas projects including Project Neon.

Today we talk with Patrick Zellner. Patrick started his early career as a Civil Engineer in the Air Force where he first began to overcome issues that constantly come with clay soils. He has worked his way up with the City of Renton where he has taken years of experience and of soil stabilization knowledge to build low cost, long-lasting roads that his community can appreciate.

Starting as a Civil Engineer and going through military structured training programs, he values hard work and wants to teach the future generation the importance of building skilled workers.

This podcast will discuss the advantages and disadvantages to different types of soil stabilizers, the shortage of skilled workers, and why experimenting with new things within the industry is important. Patrick knows firsthand that road construction is hard work, especially when building runways on what he called “marshmallows” due to the deep clay in South Korea and caliche clay issues in Phoenix, Arizona before he began his work with the City of Renton.

Today we sit down with Blake Phillip, Southeast Territory Manager at H&E Equipment, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic in the US. We’ll talk about challenges his industry is facing during the pandemic, what inspired him to join the construction industry and technological advancements he’s seen in his 8 years of experience.

Today we talk with Aaron Witt, President and Chief Dirt Nerd of Build Witt Media. Witt discovered an interest in photography and social media during his construction career. Realizing he was unhappy where he was, Witt decided to quit his job to start his own media company, Build Witt Media. Build Witt Media assists construction companies in improving their image and marketing in an effort to bring more workers into the construction field.
