The Future Is Bright, Literally, for New Mini LED Technology with Mitch Rosenberg

19m · Published 25 Sep 21:13
This interview originally aired on MarketScale's Pro AV Podcast. There’s so much new technology coming down the digital display pike in the next decade that our guest today on the Pro AV Podcast is almost giddy. For this new episode, host Sean Heath sat down with Mitch Rosenberg, senior director of sales for enterprise distribution partnerships at Absen, to break down the kind of long-felt impact mini LED technology will have on the industry. “What you’ll see in information [content] that comes to you, through you… It’s amazing,” Rosenberg said. “I’m so excited about what I see in the next 5-10 years that it’s the reason I’ll stay in this game probably until my 70s.” Rosenberg has spent three decades working with display technology, tracking its first iterations of Light Emitting Diodes to where LED is headed today. “Mini LED is the latest technology in my opinion,” he said. “Not micro LED but mini. It’s taking LED the next generation up.” As exciting as LED displays can be, Rosenberg admits even he has become blind to landmark displays in Las Vegas, Times Square, and Tokoyo. “I walk down Las Vegas Blvd. or Flamingo Blvd., and I don’t even look at the signs anymore. They don’t grab my attention unless there is something spectacular,” Rosenberg said. “Something special has to occur, and that’s a combination of content, design, what the display is, and what the manufacturer is — whether it’s LED, 3D, or holographic.”

LED Past, Present, Future, and How This Evolving Tech Transforms Business with Mitch Rosenberg

32m · Published 05 Sep 21:11
This interview originally aired on MarketScale's Pro AV Podcast. The late 90’s marked a revolutionary new advancement in display technology—LED (Light Emitting Diodes). Since the 90’s, LED tech has come a long way. In fact today’s guest, Mitch Rosenberg, Senior Director of Sales at Absen LED with 30 years of experience in LED tech, explains how “LED is still very much a growing product.” On this AV podcast we dive into LED’s: where it all began, and where Mitchell sees LED tech headed in the future. When LED’s first entered the scene the panels and displays were expensive, available only to those with deep pockets. Mitchell explains how as LED tech evolved, the price dropped and the technology became more accessible to the public: “Pixels got tighter, prices started plummeting, resolution increased, longevity got better, light output got better, weight went down…” Today, LED’s are found in our at-home TV’s, and the industry industry itself has grown into a 3.7 billion dollar business. Although LED tech can be visually astonishing, Mitchell says the technology is wasted if there is not incredible content to match. “If you don’t have a budget for content, you’re buying a giant TV,” Mitchell tells his clients. “LED is merely a display product,” says Mitchell. It’s what you do with this display product that wows customers and bolsters a company’s brand. LED is not done evolving. The technology is becoming stronger and more resilient to human handling, moving away from the fragile piece of tech it once was. On this podcast, Mitchell divulges his insight on what dramatic changes he foresees shaking up the market, and what that looks like for business and consumers.

The Two Biggest Talking Points at LDI 2018 with Chris Prosio & Alison Maxson

27m · Published 15 Oct 21:08
This interview originally aired on MarketScale's Pro AV Podcast. 2018 marks the 30th anniversary of the Live Design International conference in Las Vegas, the premiere Pro AV show for the best in innovations in the live audience experience, from concerts, to theme parks to houses of worship. Live venue manufacturers have always been a key group for innovation in Pro AV; by always looking to bring the best experience for the audience, an experience that consistently feels unique, those professionals have to search for changes in design, technology or implementation. This year, two main issues are going to be the buzz at LDI: rigging weight and labor time. As LED tiles get bigger, crisper and in effect heavier, how can manufacturers cut down on the bulkiness? How can they maximize set-up and tear-down time? How do you maintain safety and attention to detail with these pushes for efficiency? Here to give their thoughts on these important industry questions and what they’re most excited about at LDI are Chris Prosio, Director of Sales for Rental & Staging, and Alison Maxson, Senior Manager of Marketing & Communications at Absen. “One of the big factors from an ROI is how quickly the teams, the riggers, the AV technicians out there unloading and loading, how quickly can they get them up, how quickly can they can get them down,” Maxson said. “The faster they can move, the faster they can turn through from one show to another, is going to ultimately lead to being able to book more shows which is more money in their pocket.” This year, Absen is showcasing a new product that looks to bring solutions to these industry growing pains: ALTAIR, an LED display designed for touring. A lighter framework, fast installation, safe-guards for load in and load out, and brighter more efficient performance make it an exciting contender at LDI. Absen hopes to show off not only its aesthetics but practical capabilities by putting it to work for their entire booth setup; more than 60% of the booth will be ALTAIR LED tiles. At the end of the day, Absen represents a perfect example of how manufacturers are looking to stay ahead of their user’s needs. “You’re dealing with numbers of tiles, right? So each tile is built up of a structures. In the past, that structure has been aluminum or maybe steel,” Prosio said. “One of the ways we’re addressing this is changing how that structure is built. We’ve been using magnesium, which is a lighter metal.”

On today’s podcast, our host spoke with Paul Johnston, the Vice-President of Technical Service and Operations for Absen America.
