23m · PublishedWHAT'S NEXT: Scylla with Albert Stepanyan
14m · PublishedIn the latest episode of our ‘What’s Next’ podcast, Giovanni Vaccari, head of product at Startupbootcamp, talks to the founder and CEO of Scylla.ai, Albert Stepanyan. Scylla is a Startupbootcamp alumnus that aims to empower private security firms with next-generation AI solutions.
Albert spoke of the motivation behind his company and how he was inspired by the story of Prometheus rebelling against the gods. Just as Prometheus gave fire (the first true piece of technology) to mankind, Scylla aims to make security tech more accessible and affordable. He explained the firm’s origins in 2018 and the benefits of the Startupbootcamp program.
Giovanni and Albert discussed the difficulties of revenue generation in an industry that is naturally quite conservative. Albert advised teams that are looking for their initial seed round to first acquire a few customers, before exploring a pre-seed round to generate market interest.
Albert also touched on the company’s growth, including plans to expand its employee numbers beyond 75 by the end of the year. This has also presented challenges, particularly around retaining a solid company culture. Hiring via Zoom wasn’t always easy but everyone that was brought onboard fully embraced Scylla's values immediately.
Like many other industries, the security sector is particularly averse to change. Check out the full podcast episode for some great tips on how your startup can overcome these types of challenges to unsettle the status quo and deliver on your innovation goals.
