Not Your Regular Mother's Day Chat

1h 4m · Published 11 May 18:19

Mother's Day just passed and we want to celebrate Mothers but also speak about the power of Mothers and how this can affect your children. In another Podcast triple header we sit down with women with different focuses for Mothers.  First up is a powerful Mother Daughter duo Jeri Godhigh and Jamia Ponder.  Their goal is to rebuild broken bonds between mothers and daughters with the belief that forgiveness provides freedom to move past hurt and pain.

Once we're done chatting up with these Queens we pass it to Christina Acosta-Martinez a community builder for moms of color, postpartum doula, wife, and mama. She founded Growing Up Gorgeous, LLC to provide a diverse community if moms with a one of a kind support system. Everyone forgets about mom once the baby is born but just like it takes a village to raise a child it takes a village to care for a new mom. Postpartum Doulas can help.

We tie this episode up with a beautiful pink bow with Christy Gomez, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and founder of The Woman| The Mother .  She brings home the importance of personal freedom and emotional regulation in motherhood.

You do not want to miss this one!

Black Creators Matter!

1h 4m · Published 11 May 17:47

What is your music affirming?  After watching the State VS Billie Holiday movie we were able to see how powerful messages in music can be and the lengths people will go to not allow that impact to happen . Over the year we were blessed with Nina Simone, Bob Marley  and even Chance The Rapper that give us positive messages in their music.  We've seen amazing Black Lives Mural popping up in cities that give us a message of equality. Art is a part of the movement.  Join us as we have a triple header of amazing artist.  Starting with rapper Slim Da Wit who uses his Newark upbringing as an inspiration for his eclectic brand of layered Hip Hop, Rap, R&B, Soul, and Funk. His roots in one of the many ghettos of America in combination with his faith are what fuel his notably uplifting and inspiring message based music, a quality that sets him apart from the rest.

Then we go over to Patterson NJ with Sir Moore. He is a photographer, Black Lives Matter Patterson organizer, and more.  Hi photography has captured some powerful moments during the protest in 2020 that sparked after the death of George Floyd.  His photos has made it to major publications and an art gallery at Kean University  due to the power that speaks through the images. There's a story to be told through the lens.

We get to close out with a beautiful poem by Cindy who goes by LJB Poet.  Tiffany reminds us of the power of the pen!
