Welcome to our Monday Morning Update on May 3rd, 2021.

In today's Monday Morning Update we have an interview of Henrik Schlotfeldt, who is Managing Director at ST Engineering Aerospace Solutions. We will go a bit deeper into the aviation industry than normal.

We will take a look behind the scenes on what it takes to keep planes flying and how the so-called MRO industry are holding up. MRO stands for maintenance, repair and operations.

ST Aerospace was established in 1975 to provide maintenance and support services to the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF). Since then, it has diversified into various MRO capabilities for commercial and military aircraft through a number of strategic partnerships, acquisitions and investments.

ST Aerospace reportedly employs in excess of 8,000 certified engineers and administrative specialists around the world and has a global customer base that includes military forces, major airlines and freight carriers.

ST Aerospace has an office in Copenhagen and here Henrik Slotsfeld his home base as Managing Director. He travels all around the world for work and therefore he knows the industry from inside but also as a frequent flyer.

In today's Monday Morning Update we have an interview Guðrið Højgaard from CEO at Visit Faroe Islands.

The Faroe Islands have managed the corona pandemic quite good and they have for some time been able to live a pretty much normal live with limited number of restrictions. Restaurants, bars and other public places are open and this also counts for tourists.

We have a talk with Guðrið on what they have done to promote and attract people to the Faroe Islands since the pandemic started and what is possible right now and we end on what is the near future plans.

In short - you learn how to travel to the Faroe Islands this summer and what possibilities that are there.

In our deep dive history, we have talked to Ulrik Gylstorff from Thai Airways and he shares how he have seen the last year with COVID-19 in a front row seat along with the enormous reconstruction that Thai Airways are currently in the middle of. Ulrik also shares when he and Thai Airways expected leisure and business travellers to return again.

Welcome to our Special Episode together with Great Dane Airlines.

Great Dane Airlines was established in 2018 and was in the market to mainly offer charter flights for several Danish tour operators, but also some scheduled flights (e.g. Dublin).  The maiden flight was done on June 19th on a flight from Aalborg to Rhodes.

The airlines is co-owned by Thomas Hugo Møller, which we have our interview with in this episode.

Great Dane Airlines have a fleet strategy to run only Embraer E195 aircrafts and today have three in their fleet. A fourth one is planned to join later after the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the Embraer E195 aircrafts, Great Dane Airlines is looking to fly 118 passengers for low fares from Aalborg and service the Danish tour operators.

Currently Great Dane Airlines have two of their planes in Vietnam where they operate for Bamboo Airlines. Thomas Hugo Møller is currently in Vietnam acting as captain along with 45 of his colleagues.

In this first Monday Morning Update we will talk about the new Chinese airplane - the COMAC C919. This is the model that will compete directly against the Boeing B737 MAX and the Airbus A320neo. China Eastern Airlines is the launch customer and will get the first airplane later in 2021.
