Marina creció en un pueblo en el medio de Argentina. Tuvo la posibilidad de ir becada a un evento internacional de ciencias que le cambió la vida y le abrió el mundo. Quiso replicar el evento en su ciudad y su país, por lo que inició organizando unos eventos que formaran líderes y así nació Líderes de Ansenuza. La organización es hoy un referente en Argentina, al diseñar e implementar programas educativos.  Marina nos recuerda que hay muchas oportunidades, pero está en nosotros aprovecharlas y para transformar la sociedad en la que vivimos. Mantaro es un Changemaker que inició su camino desde muy joven, luego de haber sido víctima de bullying. En lugar de permanecer un con rótulo y victimizarse, decidió crear una cultura de paz. Lo anterior, lo llevó a fundar Juventudes Unidas, iniciativa con la cual llevó un proyecto de ley sobre bullying que hoy es ley en el Estado de Nuevo León en México. Además de este trabajo, Mantaro tiene un emprendimiento social que ayuda a personas migrantes en tránsito por su Estado a tener un ingreso y aprender a crear productos cosméticos con residuos de otras industrias.

Today mental health is at the forefront of our daily conversations and the pandemic has shown us its importance and how citizens need to have access to adequate care. Activist Diana Chao has been advocating for this since she was 15 years old. She founded the organization Letters 2 Strangers and has worked to provide and advocate access for minority communities. In this episode, she talks about her journey to building this organization and how we as citizens can be supportive to family and friends dealing with mental health.

Emiliana es una periodista que empezó su carrera en noticieros en prestigiosos canales de televisión y se dio cuenta del poder que tienen los medios de comunicación masivos y cómo ese poder no siempre se usa en beneficio del mundo. Además, vivió en carne propia las dificultades de ser periodista multimedios (una persona encargada de encontrar, investigar, grabar, producir, editar la noticia) y descubrió que sus colegas pasan por situaciones de peligro, así como de problemas de salud mental debido al estrés y peligro físico al que son sometidos. Con este panorama, crea Media Healers (Sanadores de Medios) y un podcast que se llama The Awakened Journalist (La Periodista Despierta/Consciente) en el que entrevista a periodistas y comparte historias inspiradoras en inglés y español. In George's last episode as a Podcast host, he chats with Nhial Deng. Nhial has been a refugee for nearly half of his life. Nhial arrived at Kenya’s Kakuma Refugee Camp in 2010, at only 11 years of age. Fleeing his village in Ethiopia after an armed militia attack, he walked hundreds of kilometres for days, alone and without family, to reach Kenya.

A large camp in Turkana County in northwestern Kenya, Kakuma is home to around 160,000 people.  It was built in 1992 following conflict and unrest in Sudan, Ethiopia, and Somalia.

Today, Nhial heads the organisation Refugee Youth Peace Ambassadors, which aims to promote peace in Kakuma, and also delivers mentorship and empowerment activities for young people. Nhial also works to shift the narrative on refugee issues by amplifying the voices of other young people in the camp. He seeks to empower youth as the leaders of today that they are to make a difference.

George chats to Nhial as he waits in a hotel quarantine, before starting his studies in Journalism and International Studies at Huron University College in Canada.
