There are several documentaries. A podcast series. A live televised trial. So what is the deal with the 'Murdaugh Murders' that seem to be all over the news? One of the most wealthy, important families in an entire state suddenly having all their secrets laid bare? Of course people are obsessed. The Murdaugh Family is a legal dynasty, basically in charge of justice in Hampton County, South Carolina. Which means if anyone in their family ever broke the law... they got away with it. Until now.

Alex Murdaugh was recently found guilty of the 2021 shooting of his wife Maggie and adult son Paul, shocking locals who never thought a Murdaugh would get in trouble for anything. And that was just the start - once police started looking, several murders and crimes seemed to be linked to Murdaugh family members. Mallory Beach. Gloria Satterfield. Stephen Smith. It went way deeper - and was way more bizarre - than anyone anticipated.
