Raising your kids to follow in your footsteps has been a thing since the dawn of time and so has rebelling against it. Jocks want to see their kids do well in sports, the local butcher wants to see their kid take over the family business, etc. But when you’re a geek, its our interest we want to share with our offspring. Movies, TV shows, video games, Sci-fi, fantasy, Legos! This month Shaun, Kristen and Eugene are joined by their kids and discuss the things that were hits, the misses and the differences in raising kids in an all digital age.

It’s a new year… and we’re still dealing with COVID. And even though some of us are going back into lockdown, at least we have some good media to look forward to this coming year. We’re taking a look at the things we’re most excited to watch, read ad play this coming year, unless, you know, they get pushed back due to the pandemic. Haslab, Hasbro’s Kick Starter like branch, just funded a 1:1 Proton Pack from Ghostbusters: Afterlife. They have also done awesome versions of The Razorcrest from The Mandalorian and a remake of the HEron Quest board game. In that spirit, we are coming up with epic, super cool toys we would like to see made. We’re talking $400+ for something we could only dream of as kids… and possibly buy as adults.

If you are a Ghostbusters fan, you’ve been waiting for Ghostbusters III for 30+ years. And even though Jason Rietman, writer and director of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, says his movie isn’t Ghostbusters III, it certainly feels like the like the sequel we’ve been waiting for. This is a spoiler filled discussion so if you haven’t seen the movie yet, maybe come back after you have. And if you haven’t seen it yet, go see it! It’s a well known fact that not all trick-or-treat candy is created equal. There is always that one oddball that likes the stuff no one else does, but there are some candies that stand head and shoulders above the rest and everyone loves. We submitting our sweet 16 of the best trick-or-treat candy and battling out to figure out what is number one. Spoiler alert, of course the Canadians submitted candy you can only get up there and as an American who has tried it, its really good.

Marvel’s newest show on Disney Plus, What If…?, has got us thinking about all of the other simple, little changes that could happen in movies to totally change the story and outcome. What if Ray kept his mind clear when Gozer was asking for the Ghostbusters to choose the form of the destructor? What if Gollum never lost the one ring in The Lord of the Rings? What if the rat didn’t bring back Ant Man in End Game? Unlike The Watcher, we’re not only exploring these other universes, we’re giving our opinions and coming up with outcomes, good or bad.

Cancel culture has dragged some truly horrible people into the light of public opinion for actions that are not politically correct today. It has also done so with some innocent people but thats not our topic. This month we are looking back at movies from our childhood and doing the same thing. Sexist, racist and homophobic humor are all open targets. Violence, killings and abuse all has to go. Will any movies from way back still be OK for today’s audiences?
