About our Guest: Dr. Shannon W. McPherson
Dr. Shannon W. McPherson is a highly trained and experienced high school science teacher. She has had twenty-six years of teaching in a wide variety of sciences, including chemistry, advanced placement environmental science, anatomy and physiology, biology, medical microbiology, and pathophysiology. She has also been an adjunct faculty member at a local community college, teaching anatomy and physiology to pre-nursing students. She has taught thousands of students at various levels, which attests to her passion, drive, trustworthiness, and love for her students. Before teaching, Dr. McPherson was a chiropractor with a growing practice after graduating as salutatorian of her class. While growing her practice, she spent her spare time volunteering at her son’s school. During this time, she realized she had missed her calling due to the joy she felt every day as an educator. She pursued and achieved alternative certification to teach science, a field severely lacking teachers. She hasn't looked back since. A mother of three grown children and a whole pack of grand dogs, she is married and lives outside Houston, Texas. About our Guest: John Gamba
John Gamba is a serial entrepreneur who has founded, funded and led several education technology ventures and non-profit organizations over his 30 year career. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Gamba started his career as a strategy consultant for KPMG where he performed market research for NASA on the commercial development of space. Pursuing his passion for education, John co-founded PACE - The Partnership for Academic and Community Excellence. PACE was a school to home communications network that connected thousands of schools to millions of parents across the United States. PACE was eventually sold to NTI Group and then to Blackboard for $182 million, in an all cash transaction.
John currently serves as Entrepreneur in Residence and Director of Innovative Programs at Catalyst @ Penn GSE where he mentors aspiring education entrepreneurs and oversees the Milken-Penn GSE Education Business Plan Competition, now in its 15th year. The Milken competition has awarded $2 million dollars to 50 education entrepreneurs and those ventures have gone on to raise $200 million in follow-on capital.
John is an industry speaker and a mentor to several entrepreneurs in the global Education space. He's also an Ironman Triathlete, and qualified for the Half Ironman World Championships in Clearwater, Florida in 2010.

She was selected as a 2018-19 Teach Plus Indiana Teaching Policy Fellow and co-authored the policy briefTHE RATE OF RETENTION:A PROPOSAL FOR AN INDIANA REPORTOF TEACHER SUPPLY AND DEMAND.During her tenure with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, Jennifer completed the Indiana Catholic Principals Institute and served as a board member of the Eastside Catholic Schools Partnership and a Deanery representative for the Archdiocesan Principals’ Association. Jennifer was named the 2011 Fishers Elementary School Teacher of the Year. She graduated from the University of Evansville with a BS in Elementary Education, received her MS in Educational Leadership through the Urban Principal Program at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis, and obtained a Learning Behavior Specialist I Endorsement from Olivet Nazarene University. Jennifer lives in Chicago with her husband, Josh, and her two dogs, David Rose and Stevie Budd. When she grows up, Jennifer still wants to be a teacher. I’ve spent all of my 17 years in education in the Peru Central School District and served a variety of rules. I was a 6th grade classroom teacher for 12 years before transitioning to a technology integration specialist. I am currently serving as the Director of technology. I oversee everything technology based from networking, cybersecurity to education technology.
Stephanie Petro (Technology Teacher, Peru Elementary School)
My 25 years of experience in education include serving as reading teacher for grades K-6, classroom teacher for kindergarten, first and third grade, and my current role as a special area computer technology teacher for grades 3-5.
John Mitchell (Technology Coordinator, Peru Elementary School)
Elementary Technology Integrationist for the past 8 years. Oversee many of the district’s creative media endeavors including video, photography and podcast production. I also serve as the Elementary Media Club advisor. Prior to working in education I worked for PBS, Fujitsu and operated my own photography studio.
