#44 - Adrienne Walker

43m · Published 11 Aug 09:35
Broadway's Lion Queen, Adrienne Walker, joins "E-Ticket to Broadway" to share her love of Disney! Listen as Adrienne explains how the Disney movies and animation so deeply affected her as a kid--specifically having the videos of "Aladdin," "Beauty and the Beast" and, coincidentally, "The Lion King" played on rotation in her house, and how she so deeply related to Belle (as they both had their nose stuck in a book). After giving shout outs to "The Great Mouse Detective" and "Angels in the Outfield," Adrienne recalls her first trip to Walt Disney World when she was in middle school and how she remembers "loving everything," especially "it's a small world" and "The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror." She shares how she married into a very Disney-loving family, and with David discusses their mutual admiration of Mulan (Adrienne's favorite Disney Princess). Before playing "Another Op'nin', Another Disney Show," Adrienne reveals her dreams of giving voice to a Disney character, and also shares her incredible experience of starring in Broadway's "The Lion King"--from seeing "The Circle of Life" performed for the first time, to sharing her favorite moments from the show. This episode includes deep love for Dole Whips, "Dumbo the Flying Elephant," and Abu. #43 - Ethan Slater

49m · Published 02 Aug 09:35
Tony Award-nominee Ethan Slater ("Spongebob Squarepants: The Broadway Musical," "Fosse/Verdon") joins David on this episode of "E-Ticket to Broadway" to discuss yet another very lovable, friendly, animated icon. From his early days of watching "Bambi" and knowing he was going to love "The Little Mermaid," Ethan was certainly affected by Disney as a kid--and realizes it more and more throughout the episode. He shares his absolute love of the movie "Newsies," and performs an incredible impression of Christian Bale as Jack Kelly (and discusses how he used to tumble in his house pretending to be an actual Newsie), watching "Aladdin" twelve times in a row, and enjoying "the Alan Menken of it all." Though Ethan may continue to find himself as "Disney adjacent," he recalls a touching memory of going to Walt Disney World with his family--how much it meant to him, and how terrified he was of Space Mountain. He dives deep into his thoughts as to why animated characters affect us so deeply, reveals his connection to the "Toy Story" movies, and puts on his Imagineering hat to design "The Spongebob Squarepants Adventure" attraction--before playing everyone's favorite game, "Spongebob or Mickey Mouse?" Ethan also shares some thoughts about a hypothetical trip to Walt Disney World with his "Edge of the World" co-stars, his love of classic Hollywood, and what job Spongebob would want at a Disney Theme Park. #42 - Patti Murin

56m · Published 28 Jul 09:35
Love is an open door on this episode of "E-Ticket to Broadway," as David is joined by Disney-enthusiast and Broadway star Patti Murin! Listen as Patti ("Frozen," "Xanadu," "Wicked") shares her eternal love of Disney--from loving Snow White to Ariel to Belle to Anna, to her first magical cross-country trip to Disneyland when she was four years old and fell in love with Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Peter Pan's Flight (but terrified of the Matterhorn and The Haunted Mansion). A deep discussion about Snow White's Scary Adventure transpires (naturally), before Patti shares memories of her first trip to Walt Disney World when she was seven, and how amazing it was and how she finally went on Space Mountain for the first time (but still afraid of The Haunted Mansion). Patti discusses her excitement for bringing her daughter to the Parks for the first time one day--meeting all of the different characters, and together going on "Frozen Ever After" in EPCOT. From her time playing Belle in "Beauty and the Beast" and cherishing being part of that iconic opening number as well as "Be Our Guest," to how she came to the role of Princess Anna in "Frozen" and her favorite moments of her time with the show, it is clear Patti is a true Disney kid. She and David chat about which job Patti would most like to have at the Parks, what attraction she'd be ok with getting stuck on with Olaf, which character from "Toy Story" she most relates to, and what she thinks Anna would most like at a Disney Park. This episode features everyone's favorite game "Finishing Each Other's Disney Sandwiches," as well as Patti's love for Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Splash Mountain, the Incredicoaster, and churros. #41 - Tituss Burgess

1h 0m · Published 21 Jul 09:35
To kick off Season 4 of "E-Ticket to Broadway," Emmy Award-nominee Tituss Burgess joins David to talk all things Disney, from working at Walt Disney World, to starring as Sebastian in "The Little Mermaid" on Broadway. Listen as this star of "The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" and "Jersey Boys" reveals that the first Disney movie he saw was, indeed, "The Little Mermaid," and how his first trip to any Disney Theme Park was when he was hired to perform in "The Festival of The Lion King" at Animal Kingdom--which he describes as "endless vacation mixed with some sort of awesome work study," and shares how his favorite moment of the show was seeing the faces of the kids in the front row, since there's "nothing like seeing Disney through the eyes of a child." Tituss discusses how the magic of Disney never gets old, and explains how we each can take Walt's vision and bring it into the world. David & Tituss chat about "The Little Mermaid" on Broadway, how Tituss tanked his first audition, but then got a callback and could sense that this role would indeed be his; and how he loved living in the joy of that musical score, hearing the audience gasp when they heard the introduction to "Under the Sea," and how he connects more to Ursula today than Sebastian. Play along with "Tituss Burgess or Sebastian the Crab," and tune in to hear Tituss' love of of the Tower of Terror, the music of "Newsies," the Grand Floridian, Maleficent, and The Voices of Liberty. This episode also features a conversation with Craig McFarland, Brett Rutherford, & Vanessa Ferguson of the Beyond the Mouse Podcast. #40 - Krysta Rodriguez

54m · Published 12 May 09:35
"Timon turned out to be my Father." Krysta Rodriguez (In the Heights, The Addams Family, A Chorus Line, "Smash") is a true Disneyland fan--she grew up with the Park in her backyard, and distinctly remembers feeling the magic radiating from the parking lot as a kid. On this episode of "E-Ticket to Broadway," Krysta and David discuss their love for Walt's Park, and Krysta shares how Disney intersected with her childhood--from using her allowance to buy one souvenir at the Parks (usually a figurine to add to her collection, and not Pirates' gold like she really wanted), to celebrating Thanksgiving at Walt Disney World when she was six years old, to loving "The Little Mermaid" so much that in addition to performing the role wherever and whenever she could, she dressed as Ariel for three different Halloweens in a row. Krysta dives into her love of the Disney movies of the 1960's and 70's (especially "101 Dalmatians"), and well as the food and snacks of the Disney Parks (especially those frozen bananas). Listen as Krysta shares her favorite stories of working with Julie Andrews and going to Disneyland with her, and playing Meg in Hercules in New York City while having Susan Egan as a mentor. Admittedly, Krysta shares that she "got in trouble at Disneyland like kids do at the mall" and shares a fun story of Tinkerbell's flight during the fireworks--something Wednesday Addams may also love. This episode features the game "Pulled in a New Disney Direction" in which Krysta needs to determine which ride or attraction David is referencing that is based on the guests going in a new direction; and they share their mutual love of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, miniatures in the Parks, and Fantasmic. Should you go on a "First Date" at Disneyland? Listen as Krysta shares all! #39 - Kerry Butler

48m · Published 28 Apr 09:35
Broadway superstar Kerry Butler ("Hairspray," "Beetlejuice," "Mean Girls," "Catch Me if You Can," "Xanadu") joins David for an ultimate Disney-fan conversation. This Brooklyn girl has loved Disney her whole life, especially "The Little Mermaid," Ariel, and all of the music from Howard Ashman & Alan Menken. From spending her engagement weekend at Disneyland, to her dreams coming true performing at EPCOT's Festival of the Arts, Kerry's love of the Parks is infectious. Listen as she shares her favorite stories of going to the Parks including playing checkers on Main Street, and being an ultimate pin collector; and how she so deeply relates to the song "Disneyland" from "Smile," (and getting a chance to sing with Jodi Benson!). Kerry goes behind the scenes of creating her Disney-inpsired album "Faith, Trust, & Pixie Dust," as well as her days originating the role of Belle in the Toronto company of "Beauty and the Beast," and later on Broadway. On the episode she shares what job she would want at Walt Disney World, her love of "Mickey's Philharmagic," and how she loves "it's a small world" and its message of peace and unity. Play along as Kerry and David play "Kerry Butler's Disney Resume" where David says an attraction and Kerry has to guess which Broadway show that she was in most closely resembles that attraction--Kerry shares that when she was in "Beetlejuice" she said "I feel like I'm in The Haunted Mansion Ride Musical." This "World Girl" makes Disney Parks itineraries for her friends, and finds Disney recipes when she's at home--an ultimate "E-Ticket to Broadway" guest. #38 - Autumn Hurlbert

57m · Published 14 Apr 15:18
On this episode of "E-Ticket to Broadway," David is joined by his bestie Autumn Hurlbert ("Something Rotten," "Little Women," MTV's "Legally Blonde: The Search for Elle Woods") to discuss their mutual love of Disney (including their very first friend date seeing "Toy Story 3" and bonding over their emotional connection to the film). Autumn describes how as a kid she was surrounded by the love of Disney--from her whole family loving Disneyland, to listening and watching all of the Disney movies including "Sleeping Beauty" and "The Lion King." She vividly recalls an early trip to Disneyland when she saved her entire allowance and purchased an Eeyore sweatshirt, and how even at a young age she was tuned into "loving the magic." Autumn's love of Disney has followed her her entire life--she taught herself how to sing with vibrato from listening to Snow White sing "Someday My Prince Will Come," channeled her inner feminist and cheered for Malificent, and even wore out her copy of "The Little Mermaid" VHS (which may have been due to the fact that she would watch the film in her college dorm room). Autumn's love of Disney is infectious--she loves Piglet more than words can say, she had an intense conversation with Merlin at Disneyland as a kid, and when she needs cheering up she'll watch "Lilo and Stitch." She and David recall a fun story when she sang "Love is an Open Door" from "Frozen" at a benefit concert (and how she was mistaken for the voice of Anna), and Autumn describes the joy she felt bringing her son to Disney for the first time--as well as going on "Rise of the Resistance" for the first time due to the wonderful vacation planning from her husband . Also in the episode, this proud "Land Girl" plays "Keep it Positive," spinning potentially sad situations into wonderful opportunities, just as she did on national television as part of a reality show. #37 - Rory O'Malley

1h 4m · Published 07 Apr 09:35
"Disney was everything to me." Rory O'Malley ("The Book of Mormon," "Hamilton," "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee") joins David for this episode to chat Disney movies, the Parks, and making a difference in the world. From seeing "Beauty and the Beast" in the movie theater as a kid, to watching "Cinderella" multiple times, it's clear that this Tony Award-nominee has been a lifelong fan of the Mouse. Listen as Rory recalls his first trip to Walt Disney World when he was five years old, including an adorable story about meeting Mickey Mouse and loving "Peter Pan's Flight," and describes his admiration for Belle (and signing along to the movie's soundtrack, as well as wanting to be her). He and David discuss how he uses his voice and platform to push for positive change, and how the Disney stories echo these sentiments. Other topics on this episode include thoughts on when to bring kids to the Parks for the first time (and Rory sharing about the first time he brought both his mother and his son to Disneyland), how his best friend and college roommate (Josh Gad, also known as Olaf from "Frozen") had a letter from Disney CEO Michael Eisner on the wall of their dorm room, and what job Elder McKinley would have at the Disney Parks. Play along with Rory during "Turn it Off: Disney Theme Park Edition," where he answers questions related to when the Imagineers "turned off the lights" on different attractions, and share in Rory's dream of playing Wall-E on Broadway. #36 - Lena Hall

1h 1m · Published 31 Mar 09:35
If ever there was an episode about a deep love for both Wall-E & Maximus (the horse from "Tangled"), this is the one. Join Tony Award-winner Lena Hall ("Hedwig and the Angry Inch," "Kinky Boots," TNT's "Snowpiercer") as she reminisces about her love of Disney growing up--from going to Disneyland as a kid and seeing Captain EO and "It's a Small World," to how as a child she would sing along to "The Little Mermaid" and the "big one" that is "Beauty and the Beast" (and wanting to be Snow White so badly). This rocker credits getting her singing chops to signing along to Disney movies as from "Kiss the Girl" to "Aladdin" and the entire soundtrack of "The Lion King," and loving the music and ballet sequences from "Fantasia." Lena recalls her first time going to Walt Disney World while on tour with "Cats," and also shares a very sordid story from a trip to Pleasure Island while on tour with "Annie Get Your Gun." Besides her love of Ursula, Sebastian, Timon & Pumbaa, and "The Nightmare Before Christmas," Lena digs in and talks about her love of the flawed Disney characters and just how complex they are. She shares a very romantic story about watching "Wall-E "with her husband (then boyfriend) in a little cabin together, as well as her time in "Tarzan" on Broadway and the challenges she faced during that part of her life--and finding her purpose. Play along with "The Origin of Love for Disney" game in which Lena is quizzed on how the Broadway Hedwigs relate to Disney, and listen as she slays the game "Rock Stars do Disney." This episode also includes an interview with E-Ticket Patreon member Michael!
