Ep. 21: Real Moms Too Mom Spotlight with Sandra Guerra-Lizagarra (Unicornuate Uterus)

In this episode, Real Moms Too interview Sandra Guerra-Lizarraga, a 40-year-old Latina mother from Peru, who shares how she overcame unicornuate uterus, a uterine abnormality. Unicornuate uterus, is a birth defect in which the uterus is developed abnormally, often functioning with just one fallopian tube. A woman with unicornuate uterus can experience miscarriages, preterm labor, breech birth, infertility and other complications.

Sandra is a mother of 5 children (ranging in ages 2 months to 21 years old), despite being told she would never be able to conceive. From infertility, to undergoing in vitro, experiencing hyperemesis gravidarum, dealing with postpartum depression, and having a tubal ligation, Sandra has experienced a great deal throughout her motherhood journey. But through it all, Sandra has gained a beautiful family, stronger faith, and hopes all mothers can learn from her inspiring story.

Ep. 19: Real Moms Discuss Mental Health Too

With May being Mental Health Awareness Month, Alana and Xia discuss Postpartum Depression and Anxiety (PPD). Although Alana and Xia are not doctors, they wanted to discuss how PPD affected them throughout motherhood. PPD looks different for moms so Alana shares what her triggers were, signs mothers and partners should be aware of, and some steps she took to help treat PPD.

No matter what you are dealing with mentally, it's never too late to seek professional help. You are not alone. Do not suffer in silence.

Ep. 18: Real Moms Have Sex Plans Too

There's no how-to-guide on what to expect when you're done expecting. After the baby is born our bodies change tremendously and often times we don't feel sexy, we're exhausted, and frankly, we're just not in the mood to have sex!   

In episode 18, Alana and Xia get real personal about how their sex lives changed after they had kids. They get real about how they had to relearn their bodies, try new things, and communicating with their partner about what works and doesn't work in between the sheets. They also provide some tips on how to enjoy a healthy sex life and discuss creating a sex plan with your partner.

Alana and Xia talk about how they chose their children's name and the unnecessary drama that may come with it. They discuss what prompted their decisions to share or not share the names with friends and family.  Alana almost lost a friendship due to a baby name while Xia was able to avoid all the drama by not sharing the name at all.

Ep. 13: Real Moms Stay At Home Too

Some millennial moms are choosing to become Stay-At-Home-Moms (SAHM), and no this is not to be confused with the traditional homemaker. You may be wondering why that is?! 90% of moms that choose to stay at home list flexibility as the number one reason.
 
While Xia is no longer a SAHM, she stayed home with her daughter for the first 18 months of her life. After being in the workplace for six years, Alana, mother of 4, began her SAHM journey almost a year ago.  They can attest to flexibility being a great perk to staying at home! 
 
The ladies of Real Moms Too discuss what the SAHM life is like for mothers in this day and age.  They offer tips on budgeting, time management, as well as recommendations on activities for kids and moms. Alana and Xia provide words of encouragement for current SAHMs and insight for moms considering the transition. Listen in as they share the ins and outs of SAHM Life.
