Genesis 3:8-13 (NASB) 8 Now they heard the sound oftheLordGod walking in the garden in the cool of the day,and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of theLordGod among the trees of the garden.9Then theLordGod called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?”10He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.”11And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Genesis 3:1-7 (NASB) 3Nowthe serpent was more cunning than any animal of the field which theLordGod had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God really said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?”2The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;3but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’”4The serpent said to the woman, “You certainly will not die!5For God knows that on the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, andyou will become like God, knowing good and evil.”6When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to makeonewise, she took some of its fruit and ate; and she also gavesometo her husband with her, and he ate.7Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and theyknew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves waist coverings. Corruption – How sin entered into the world: 1) The clarity and authority of God’s Word is attacked (3:1-3) 2) The truth of God’s Word and God’s goodness is denied (3:4-5) 3) The true vision of God is clouded by our senses (3:6)

1 Thessalonians 4:1-12 (NASB) 1Finally then, brethren, we request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us instruction as to how you ought to walk and please God (just as you actually do walk ), that you excel still more. 2For you know what commandments we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus. 3For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality; 4that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God; 6and that no man transgress and defraud his brother in the matter because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, just as we also told you before and solemnly warned you. 7For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification. 8So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you. 9Now as to the love of the brethren, you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another; 10for indeed you do practice it toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, to excel still more, 11and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you, 12so that you will behave properly toward outsiders and not be in any need. Genesis 2:4-25 (NASB) 4This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made earth and heaven. 5Now no shrub of the field was yet on the earth, and no plant of the field had yet sprouted, for the Lord God had not sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground. 6But a mist used to rise from the earth and water the whole surface of the ground. 7Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living person. 8The Lord God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden; and there He placed the man whom He had formed. 9Out of the ground the Lord God caused every tree to grow that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. 10Now a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it divided and became four rivers. 11The name of the first is Pishon; it flows around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12The gold of that land is good; the bdellium and the onyx stone are there as well. 13The name of the second river is Gibbon; it flows around the whole land of Cush. 14The name of the third river is Tigris; it flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates. 15Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to cultivate it and tend it. 16The Lord God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for on the day that you eat from it you will certainly die.” 18Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.” 19And out of the ground the Lord God formed every animal of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. 20The man gave names to all the livestock, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him. 21So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. 22And the Lord God [q]fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. 23Then the man said, “At last this is bone of my bones,And flesh of my flesh;She shall be called ‘woman,’Because she was taken out of man.” 24For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. 25And the man and his wife were both naked, but they were not ashamed. Sermon Theme: God has prepared human beings with all the spiritual and physical resources needed in order to glorify and enjoy Him. Psalm 42 (NASB) 1As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, O God. 2My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God? 3My tears have been my food day and night, While they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?" 4These things I remember and I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go along with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God, With the voice of joy and thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festival. 5Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him For the help of His presence. 6O my God, my soul is in despair within me; Therefore I remember You from the land of the Jordan And the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar. 7Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls; All Your breakers and Your waves have rolled over me. 8The LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime; And His song will be with me in the night, A prayer to the God of my life. 9I will say to God my rock, "Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?" 10As a shattering of my bones, my adversaries revile me, While they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?" 11Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God. Psalm 43 (NASB) 1Vindicate me, O God, and plead my case against an ungodly nation; O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man! 2For You are the God of my strength; why have You rejected me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? 3Osend out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill And to Your dwelling places. 4Then I will go to the altar of God, To God my exceeding joy; And upon the lyre I shall praise You, O God, my God. 5Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God. Genesis 2:1-3 (NASB) 1Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts. 2By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. Sermon Theme: The Seventh Day of Creation is a glorious memorial and reminder that God created the entire universe in six days and sets the pattern and rhythm for human life to flourish. Outline: The Uniqueness of Day Seven1) God completed His work (2:1-2)2) God ceased His work (2:2-3)3) God blessed and sanctified Day Seven (2:3)

Genesis 1:26-31 (NASB) 26 Then God said, “Let Us make mankind in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the livestock and over all the earth, and over every crawling thing that crawls on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you; 30 and to every animal of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to everything that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food”; and it was so. 31 And God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
