Ep 6 - Does Gratitude Lead to Joy or Does Joy Lead to Gratitude? (Attitude with Gratitude)

8m · Published 13 Jun 07:00

I am reading a book right now by Melody Beattie, “Making Miracles in 40 Days.”  that has a unique perspective on gratitude. How do you find gratitude in your life when things are not going well? How do we make space for gratitude even in the darkest of times?  It is a short practice that I will be walking through over the next couple of weeks and I invite you to join me.

It’s not about not acknowledging things that are hard in your life. It is actually the opposite. It's about giving space for those emotions and TRULY feeling them. Sometimes when we block our emotions it blocks us from our goals because we are carrying negative energy.

I also share with you a perspective on this topic from one of my favorite teachers, Brene Brown. Brene shines a new light on the link between joy and gratitude that you do not want to miss.

Please share your gratitude in our community! Find us on Facebook and let’s support one another flex our gratitude muscles! https://www.facebook.com/groups/2079694042156503/

Topics Discussed:

  • How to find gratitude in the hard times.
  • The link between joy and gratitude (it's not what you may think!)
  • A 40-day challenge that I am going on (and invite you to)

Ep 5 - Find Your Mimi

27m · Published 11 Jun 08:40

One of the number one questions that I get about depression and anxiety is how to know when and who to confide in about your struggle. This can be a very lonely journey and you may be desperate to share with a loved one or a friend but you may worry about how they may take it or if they will treat you differently.

In today’s episode, I share my own experience of telling those I loved about my depression and anxiety. I will tell you about a very special friend, Mimi, who was instrumental in my recovery and gave me a platform to heal. We talk about how to reveal your struggle to others for the first time, how to know who you can confide in, and why sharing is key to recovery. Together is always better.

Topics Discussed:

  • How to know who to talk to and when about your mental health.
  • The importance of surrounding yourself with the right people.
  • How we can learn from others who are going through similar circumstances.

Ep 4 - How to Find Gratitude (Attitude with Gratitude)

8m · Published 06 Jun 07:00

Some days I wake up naturally full of gratitude. Others, it is harder to create a space for gratitude. In today’s episode, I invite you to find gratitude every day, even in the hard moments. Even if it is something small like being grateful for a glass of water or the fresh air outside, together we can find things to be grateful for. No matter how simple, these little moments add up and can have a huge impact on our lives.

I also share with you about why this Friday is significant to me and why I am personally grateful today.

I encourage you to find something that you are grateful for and share it with us. By sharing what you are grateful for you may be able to help someone else in this journey who may be struggling. Gratitude is a muscle that you exercise. Although it may not come naturally it is something that we can grow in and learn from together.

Topics Discussed:

  • A challenge for you to find one thing you are grateful for every day.
  • How to identify the “small” things you are grateful for.
  • Why I am grateful for going through this journey.

Ep 2 - Attitude with Gratitude

13m · Published 30 May 19:24

In today’s episode, I am excited to share with you about our Thursday segment called Attitude with Gratitude. In these short solo episodes, I will share with you the importance of gratitude in recovery, what I am grateful for this week, and an encouragement to you to find the things in your life that you are grateful for.

After reading a book on gratitude, I decided to incorporate it into my daily practice. When you are struggling with depression and anxiety, it can be extremely difficult to practice gratitude. I have experienced the relief that gratitude can bring in the process of recovering from a mental illness, and although it is not easy, it is worth it. I am excited to share more of my journey with you and encourage you to tap into the power of gratitude in your own life.

Ep 00 - Welcome to Hope to Recharge

6m · Published 21 May 19:57

Welcome to Hope to Recharge! In this episode, we introduce the concept of this show and share with you who it is for, and what you can expect from here.

Depression and anxiety is something that is very close to my heart. About nine years ago, I was a regular woman living a normal life, until one day I woke up under a full attack. It was only later that I discovered that this attack was a direct result of depression and anxiety. I then began my long journey towards recovery and learned the importance of hope and community.

Through this podcast, I want to pay it forward by providing the tools and resources that have helped me on my path as well as break the stigma often associated with mental health issues. We believe that together is better and together we will create the hope to recharge.
