Welcome to the Illuminated Conversations podcast! In this 5th episode of the second season, I will be interviewing Kirk M. Samuels, Author,  gifted speaker and an award-winning member of Toastmaster’s International.  

In this episode, Kirk and I discuss his journey of Porn addiction and how it destroyed his life. How he overcame that and ended up writing a book and developing a mission to help others recover from Pornography addiction.  

 For thirty of the first forty years of his life, Kirk was addicted to pornography. Numerous relationships and careers suffered as a result. At his lowest point, Kirk was ready to end his life. Then, after the most significant of breakthroughs, Kirk created a class for men called Free Indeed. Kirk’s real, practical experience makes him uniquely qualified to speak about today’s porn consumer and relationships. His book For Your Eyes Only: The Inside Scoop About Men, Porn, and Marriage reveals to women how her man can become addicted to her.

In the past he was a superhero comic book writer, has worked in banking and at one time owned his own mortgage company.    

No matter what he's done professionally, Zyskowski has always been drawn to connecting people, leading teams to greatness and knowing the story behind what makes people tick.

Lunasol, a proud witch, activist, consultant heading a global company on transformational practices, the happy holder of 3 passports as evidence that the nation state is a fantasy, and a hopeless music and dance addict.    

Lunasol was born and raised a witch in Chile, with strong magical influence from both Indigenous (from Chile) and Italian witch lines.   She was initiated by her grandmother Nora Ilda Chiavegat Núñez, and has practiced her whole life. After moving to the US when she was 18, she studied as a solo practitioner, with a coven in upstate New York in the late 90’s, and with the Reclaiming tradition in the SF Bay Area for about 17 years. She is not currently a member of a coven, but of the High Priestess for a handful of solo practitioners.    

Lunasol is a communications expert with 30 years of experience in emotional growth techniques, spiritual development tools, healing, ritual, activism and having a whole lot of fun. She has worked with many tools and traditions in her spiritual practice, including intuitive readings and healings, spell casting, Reiki, shamanic work, vision quests, past lives, constellations and the tarot.   

In her other life as MaritzaSchafer, she works as a Communications and Organizational Consultant with her colleagues at WiseBridge.org.   All of these things inform her writing about what it will take for us to live decent lives as individuals and save the species as a collection

Phillip is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Chicago State University (CSU). He is currently serving as an Assistant Vice Provost at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). He has taught at CSU for the past 29 years. He also teaches in the Honors College at UIC, courses in Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse and Dystopian Television.  

He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1998. He also hold a BS degree from Arizona State University and an MPA degree from Troy University.  

Phillip served almost five years on active duty in the United States Air Force.  

He is a certified training leader in the Mankind Project International, a men’s organization dedicated to teaching emotional literacy and empowering men to missions of service. He has led trainings in the United Kingdom, Israel, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and Canada as well as across the United States.  An experienced and skilled facilitator, he has more than twenty years experience in personal growth work.  

He has also facilitated mens work in several prisons around the United States since 2000.
